@MacarioVistro no you invest in making tons of cities, think about it, if you have 30 cities each making at least a minimum of 10 science, that right there is 300 science easily... you need irrgigation to get a super head start, with it you can rush/build another wave of settlers... the more cities the harder it will be to defeat you. and no you get bombers with oxford, when industrialization is your highest tech, you receive advanced flight, try romans lots of cities, n 1/2 wonders :)

against decent players your first tech should be bronce working if you're not going for the horse rush. and with the chinese you don't even need code of laws. not very impressing

in my opinion what lead to his downfall mainly is that he left his capital as a barrier, i at least found some cities to use as war posts or shields to keep any enemy forces from my capital. then i build up a large naval fleet so they cant make landings. And it kinda goes on from there.

Not true, there are many different strategies, for example, my partner would use his resources to camp your production square early on thus crippling you.
Also I can still get into the modern era incredibly fast WITHOUT a partner, my partner is just there to use resources.
well done, I've betaen him twice and lost once. With his megacity startegy, it's difficult to fully defend every city whilst keepihng up on techs so if you continously attack him, you slow done his strategy

mgt is a cheater. bullshit. lag my ass. but i do have some helpful advice you might wanna hear: never give catapults the medic upgrade. they never lose a unit. if they do in combat, they get it back after they win. but hears how it works: how many units you have when it's just single is how many hp it has for an army. example. legions: they have 3 units. so in armies, they have 3 hp. cannons. have 2 units. armys, 2 hp. tanks. 1 unit. 1 hp. hope i made sence! nice win btw! 5/5 fav

Basically having a lot of little cities, and all they do is pump out settlers and the settlers will join one city that will become a megacity. They will do that until the population is all the way to 31, and the population increases production, gold and science. It is really effective but very vulnerable to early rushing.
Just read the forum you posted. I figured a rush from either player could destroy either player. But why do that when you can beat him at his own game? Very nice victory. Your also right about no resycherization and why would their be? Hes host which means if hes lagging your lagging which is not the case. Watching this and reading that forum has deffintely given me many ideas I did not have and a better understanding of the game. Thank you for posting this.
So this is 1v1 ranked. At least the top people anyway. I think the lag is bull because it would affect both sides in this type of game. And this mr game theory sounds like the kind of person who is good but when he gets beat its like listening to a child come up with a thousand excuses to why he lost. I figured I would let all you newbs know that I just took #1 on the ladder after slaughtering the former #1 Miz isHere.
I think its sad that in 5 days all the best players in Europe failed to provide a serious challenege and I only lost 2 games out of 40 total. 1 was a freeze 2 turns before an economic victory and I shut off Xbox and the other was this game where I lagged out and couldn't micro half my civ.
Ohh well. Hopefully some solid Americans will rise and provide a challenege.

Ya you beat me on the first game when i wasnt using my real strategy and you lost to me 2 games in a row after that. Oh did i mentioned that 2nd game you lost at the time 100BC?
The problem isnt with him but the strategy itself. It work best when nobody is bothering you...eg. AI. In real MP, he can't thus the slowness because alot of resources are spent on defense etc. I already captured 4 of his cities yesterday but luckily he got the tank artifact so the game didn't end right there.
yeahh, romes mega city strategy is not "perfect" but what you can say about a strategy that can only beat (with luck) by top players, think about the noobs, and normal players they cannot in ten thousand years beat this !!!!!! i have proofs only the worlds skilled players can beat this.........with luck and rush, very very rush...
I play MGT yesterday and he has all the artifact yet he can't win while his main city pop is just 15 at 1100+AD before the game froze. In fact he would have lost earlier if he doesn't have the free Tank artifact.
Alot of assumption has been made based on the demo version but the leaderboard is saying otherwise.
Playing with average player of course you will think it's overpowered. I have not lose a single game against people out of top 10, so is my strategy too awesome now? Hardly.
I think the only thing that will solve this "debate" is a rematch, with no lag of course. Then we will see if the the megacity strategy can be crushed.
Oh and btw I and the USA have had this game for 3 days while the rest of world has had it for a 1month, and im ranked number 7 on the entire ladder. On a ladder like Civ Rev you have to beat players with more rank to move up at a reasonable pace and I have beaten every top 10 player I have played thus far and only lost this game because of lucky lag.
In 20 games I am ranked right behind players like Private John who have more than 100 games and have played it for a month.
I never said my strategy was unbeatable. There is chance and Luck in this game and we are playing a game similar to Backgammon not Chess. All I have said that based on probability and Statistics you are more likely to win with Rome than any leader.
I've never denied Rome is the representative race of the game and it's the most accesible & balance Civ, but as far as i can remember you were bragging about how awesome & unbeatable your strategy in your threads which got lock down eventually,lol.
Luck apart, your second game with me today shows that your tech still couldn't catch up with me. With abit of luck (acquire a knight) I finished you off at 1100BC.
btw, have you forgotten in the game shown above you found 2 artifacts while i got none, yet my tech is still ahead of you? Luck seems to favor you but you blame it on lag anyway.
And obviously he failed to put how bad my lag was and how I was so badly lagged that the French AI took 5 of my cities becuase I was soo lagged I couldn't even micro in half my cities. GJ on the poor sportsmanship, I asked you to not press B because it was taking 10 seconds to even get into a city and I gave up 4 turns to write you text messages asking you to help me deal with the lag.
I find it funny that he put this video up since the game before this I got an Economic Victory on him at 800 AD with no Handicap. I was kind enough to offer him a rematch Where is that Video newb? HAHA

well done, I've betaen him twice and lost once. With his megacity startegy, it's difficult to fully defend every city whilst keepihng up on techs so if you continously attack him, you slow done his strategy

mgt is a cheater. bullshit. lag my ass. but i do have some helpful advice you might wanna hear: never give catapults the medic upgrade. they never lose a unit. if they do in combat, they get it back after they win. but hears how it works: how many units you have when it's just single is how many hp it has for an army. example. legions: they have 3 units. so in armies, they have 3 hp. cannons. have 2 units. armys, 2 hp. tanks. 1 unit. 1 hp. hope i made sence! nice win btw! 5/5 fav

Basically having a lot of little cities, and all they do is pump out settlers and the settlers will join one city that will become a megacity. They will do that until the population is all the way to 31, and the population increases production, gold and science. It is really effective but very vulnerable to early rushing.

Just read the forum you posted. I figured a rush from either player could destroy either player. But why do that when you can beat him at his own game? Very nice victory. Your also right about no resycherization and why would their be? Hes host which means if hes lagging your lagging which is not the case. Watching this and reading that forum has deffintely given me many ideas I did not have and a better understanding of the game. Thank you for posting this.

So this is 1v1 ranked. At least the top people anyway. I think the lag is bull because it would affect both sides in this type of game. And this mr game theory sounds like the kind of person who is good but when he gets beat its like listening to a child come up with a thousand excuses to why he lost. The only thing I dont get is why doesnt either of these strats lose to a straight up rush? Just stick everything on trees play as zulu kind of rush.

I figured I would let all you newbs know that I just took #1 on the ladder after slaughtering the former #1 Miz isHere.
I think its sad that in 5 days all the best players in Europe failed to provide a serious challenege and I only lost 2 games out of 40 total. 1 was a freeze 2 turns before an economic victory and I shut off Xbox and the other was this game where I lagged out and couldn't micro half my civ.
Ohh well. Hopefully some solid Americans will rise and provide a challenege.

The problem isnt with him but the strategy itself. It work best when nobody is bothering you...eg. AI. In real MP, he can't thus the slowness because alot of resources are spent on defense etc. I already captured 4 of his cities yesterday but luckily he got the tank artifact so the game didn't end right there.

yeahh, romes mega city strategy is not "perfect" but what you can say about a strategy that can only beat (with luck) by top players, think about the noobs, and normal players they cannot in ten thousand years beat this !!!!!! i have proofs only the worlds skilled players can beat this.........with luck and rush, very very rush...

I play MGT yesterday and he has all the artifact yet he can't win while his main city pop is just 15 at 1100+AD before the game froze. In fact he would have lost earlier if he doesn't have the free Tank artifact.
Alot of assumption has been made based on the demo version but the leaderboard is saying otherwise.
Playing with average player of course you will think it's overpowered. I have not lose a single game against people out of top 10, so is my strategy too awesome now? Hardly.

Oh and btw I and the USA have had this game for 3 days while the rest of world has had it for a 1month, and im ranked number 7 on the entire ladder. On a ladder like Civ Rev you have to beat players with more rank to move up at a reasonable pace and I have beaten every top 10 player I have played thus far and only lost this game because of lucky lag.
In 20 games I am ranked right behind players like Private John who have more than 100 games and have played it for a month.

I never said my strategy was unbeatable. There is chance and Luck in this game and we are playing a game similar to Backgammon not Chess. All I have said that based on probability and Statistics you are more likely to win with Rome than any leader.

I've never denied Rome is the representative race of the game and it's the most accesible & balance Civ, but as far as i can remember you were bragging about how awesome & unbeatable your strategy in your threads which got lock down eventually,lol.
Luck apart, your second game with me today shows that your tech still couldn't catch up with me. With abit of luck (acquire a knight) I finished you off at 1100BC.

And obviously he failed to put how bad my lag was and how I was so badly lagged that the French AI took 5 of my cities becuase I was soo lagged I couldn't even micro in half my cities. GJ on the poor sportsmanship, I asked you to not press B because it was taking 10 seconds to even get into a city and I gave up 4 turns to write you text messages asking you to help me deal with the lag.

1. If you lag, i would lag too. There were not even once we need to resynchronize the game.
