You could record the game including sound using dosbox and record your voice in Audacity at the same time and then sync the two up afterwards :) Also, Hercrabbiness and LateBlt love your work and you could ask them what they do, I'm sure they'd help you!
I'd suggest you to check your audio recording settings and check the "Output Mix" is, well, checked :P It sounds silly but I found myself with recording no audio from the games and didn't know why until I checked that and saw that it was somehow changed - I still don't know why ... DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN

I've found that using the "record from speakers" trick doesn't work too well with laptops, but to get around this, for my last LP, I purchased an 8 dollar splitter for the headphone jack. It's supposed to allow two people to be able to use headphones for the same computer, but it works in the microphone jack. Just use one mic for the commentary and lay the other one next to the speakers. It isn't a perfect solution, and you need to play with the volume, but it worked ok for me.
I'm not sure where 'record from speakers' is... probably the same place, but it's listed as 'Stereo Mixer' on my Recording Properties, and that always seemed to work. I don't have a mic though, so I have no idea if that also includes the mic. Good to hear from ya though. I'm sure the new time limit will help out with some things...

Audacity is a great program to use, so long as you have something to edit your videos with. If you do, go for it!
