Little fun fact, this e3 demo looked so good because it was demoed on a PC version of the engine to present a nice visual package. It was far too resource intensive for the xbox though, so they had to completely rewrite the renderer and make the assets lower quality to run on the original xbox hardware. If they kept this e3 build and improved the assets, it could have easily been on par with a 360 launch game. Thats pretty impressive for a demo back in 03

@SMNZ117 It would be interesting as a level, but there are valid reasons why its not and why it never was meant to be. First off, it starts passive, to show the fans what H2 graphics has to offer. After the chief shows off the new battle rifle weapon, he immidiately jumps onto the turret to gun them down. Everything new in H2 including dual weilding, hijacking, and even brutes etc. Bungie wouldn't go willy nilly like that, it was obviously demonstration ala the Halo 2 fadeout at the end.

Halo 2 is my favorite of all time. I wish this gameplay was a part of the campaign. I also couldn't help but notice some of the comments below and the only thing that made me sick yo my stomach is the guy who hasn't played Halo 2 but has played Halo 3.... For those who don't know, this demo was running on pc hardware that was set up just to be played at E3.  Bungie even admitted it, and that they weren't able to get this to run on the Xbox. They were just pushed to the limit to get something shown for e3 2003, so they came up with this. They had ZERO work done on the actual game other than preliminary stuff. They worked their asses of for the next year and half to get Halo 2 out the door for holiday 2004.

This level wasn't technically removed from the game... I was an early build of the Halo 2 levels "Outskirts" and "Metropolis"... It showed some Halo 2 designs for ODSTs, SMGs, Brutes, Dual-Wielding, Gauss Hogs, Battle Rifles (which originally acted much like the DMR of Halo: Reach), and many other things...

If Halo 2's campaign was actually like this, it would have no doubt been even better then Halo 1's. The gameplay here is like Halo 1, but everything looks polished, and there is a TON of atmosphere in this specific level. Watching this just feels cool.

According to Bungie there was a huge amount of scripting going, objects were frantically being deleted as soon as the demo went past them and the boarding scenes were fully scripted.

this was such an amazing game when it came out. i know that obviously halo 1 is the most important to the series, and that most ppl think (me being one of them) that reach is the best so far, but halo 2 brought the most innovations to the table. halo 1 had no online multiplayer. halo 2 had THE BEST TO DATE. and then dual wielding, new vehicles, and some sick weapons... Halo 2 = most revolutionary and therefore the best video game of all time.
