I have to agree, I like how she wasn't sure if she would be interested in PR at first because that is how I started out, and I can totally relate to her because I want to be an event planner as well! I felt like I could relate to her with everything and it felt really comforting!
I really liked her talk about how she got involved with PR, because I originally didn't come into school as a PR major and I kind of fell into the PR major just by talking to people and realizing that I didn't want to sit behind a desk 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
I think it’s great that she owns her own business! She has such energy and sounds like she really enjoys what she does. I hope to be that enthusiastic about my career.
It's nice to hear her career path from the starting point. Knowing that she understands that you need the basic knowledge of an event to become an event planner. I feel so often people think it's as simple as throwing a party, when the actuality of it is much more detail-oriented and stressful than that. Ms. Hulgan has great insight into what it takes to become successful in that field.
I like how Ms. Hulgan refered to her first job as a snowball effect. Allowing yourself to do a job that only somewhat garners your interest is key to gaining future success and stability in your field. In event planning, that position showed more prestigous employers that she had the real work experience to get the job done.
I just love how enthusiastic Ms. Hulgan is about her job! Its really exciting see that so many PR professions just love their jobs. I also love that she tells us to just send your resume everywhere. All it takes is one interview to help start your career. I think starting from the bottom is a very necessary way to build your career. You learn more along the way than you would have already.
Dealing with clients would be the single most stressful part of PR. It takes a patient and understanding person to effectively communicate with customers. "Every single client is special. Every single one has to feel like their the one and only." The customers look at how much stuff is on your desk. This was an interesting concept because customers are wondering if your organized and the things around you can give a good indicator of this. Very good presentation. DM
I love to talk as well and that's why I decided to become a PR major as well! I find it helpful to hear that you are an event planner and could incorporate PR into your job. I love your excitement and I would find event planning very exciting as well I think, especially after this video.
It seems like she has that kind of personality that people just gravitate to which in the field of Public Relations is an absolute key. Having the ability to not only communicate but communicate in a way that really lets your true colors show is a great attribute.
She seems to be really satisfied with her job! This is motivating. She has a lot of energy and she seems to enjoy event planning which is something I love to do too! She seems perfect for the kind of work she does.
I love to talk and write too! Another alum I can totally relate to! I think it's huge for you to follow what your heart desires and go with what you like and love!! When this is done how can not end up where you are destined to be? To be your own boss is definitely a plus!! She definitely has a lot going for herself which is very motivational. She is an ideal PR professional:)
Once again, the video was very outgoing. Her job looks like so much fun and makes students like us excited to start our careers. She also said sending your resume to multiple people is very important. Stephanie B
I like the energy she brings to everything she does. Just listening to her speak about what she does, you can tell she is very passionate about it. From the video you can tell that she loves to talk. She has a presence that makes people want to listen to her. I really like the fact that she uses everything that she learned in college in her every day work. . I really like the part when she talked about having the basic knowledge about PR. I know now that I need to make sure I know the simple things before I try to learn the really hard aspects of PR. - STACY C-

She is so enthusiastic about her career! Hearing about the steps she took on her road to her current professional position was really insighttful. Examples of the different events that she is in charge of and creates. It was inspiring to hear that you can work your way up in this field of work and that having a basic knowledge is important to becoming an event planner. Having an understanding and respect for each client is important and shows through your work - SH

This was a great video for me because I want to be an event planner. Her job at the Sheridan was really great to hear about because I think it sounds like so much fun, and it shows that you can find a job out of college that is what you actually want to be doing. I also like that she started her own business and is very successful at what she does.

Really cool to hear about her career path. She is a prime example of how one thing can lead to another. Event planning as PR is a little different than the other videos so it is nice to hear people talk about these different avenues of PR.

It was pretty cool to hear about her career path, and all the little things she worked with that affects her ability to do her job now. "Work from the ground up."
I also enjoyed hearing her reasons for getting into the PR field, as tit was pretty close to how I decided to get into PR!

I love her enthusiasim during the interview. She was wonderful at explaining how to handle clients too. That is obviously a huge and stressful part of PR, but if done correctly it yields great results.

I love the fact that she gave us advice on how to deal with clients and advised us to make them feel special like they are the most important client. I also enjoyed her story of working from the bottom up.
