I think it's just because he's starting out. I remember watching the 2nd or third night's monologue and just feeling pity for the poor bastard because the jokes SUCKED. Plus, he just looked so uncomfortable delivering them.

But he seems to be doing a bit better--give him a year or so then see how the show is.
