Why won't this link play for me!!! Its torture to listen all the way through the exquisite first part of this and then not be able to hear the end...:(
Qué lástima que algunos comentarios se centren más en las expresiones faciales de la pianista que en su maravillosa interpretación de Mozart. ¡Un saludo lleno de gratitud a la gran Mitzuko y a quien subió este video!
Half the reason for becoming a musician is to make faces on stage. When most people tell a story they use their hands. A musicians hands tend to be occupied so they use their face.
I love the expressive emotions that are being felt from this piano piece..., but if I were to play a piece like that, I probably won't have the patience and endurance to do so...T-T
Why do idiots like MrFlowrus and bogodis even view these videos, they will never know a world of accomplishment, like Mitsuko, who, by the way, has recorded every Mozart Concerto. What have you morons accomplished besides letting the world know how useless you are.
She's fantastic. Her playing is so clean and bright, yet she always manages to convey the dissonant, dark edge and maintain the level of perfection so essential to Mozart's music. I like to learn a piece and then later hear how she interprets it. She has a unique combination of musical ability and passion, and, most importantly to me, pure love for the greatest composer of all time.
@Organman, I agree that facial expressions don't make you play better, but some people have a very physical way of expressing themselfs. It's not for show. Look at her, why should she have to make a show if she can play like that?! She just doesn't want to hide what the music does to her.
I've read that Mozart used to cry leaning over his piano while writing some of his works. You should've seen his funny face. Ignorant fools. Miss Uchida gives the best performances of Mozart's piano works. Listening to them is amazing but actually seeing her play leaves me speechless every time.
These facial expressions are not funny. You cannot perform good music without expressions on your face or without intense emotions often expressed on your face. Emotions are a constant companion of all good artists, portraying their whole personality. I think Mitsuko Uchida is unique in conveying the intensity of her feelings whilst performing excellently and so perfectly.
@mahmudbaig "You cannot perform good music without expressions on your face or without intense emotions often expressed on your face." QUICK! SEND THIS TO EVERY HOROWITZ FAN!
@mahmudbaig Wrong. One can perform good music without expressions on your face. Look and listen to the great peformers of long ago. Don't be fooled by what you see. Listen.
Eu acredito que quando se chega a esse nível de entendimento do instrumento, história da música, composição e obra, pode-se sentir através do piano algo muito próximo ao que Mozart sentiu compondo... Mágico, transcedental....
@bexmaxed I'm 19 and have been in love with classical music since I was about your age as well. Classical music is the root of all things current, it moves you( if you allow it) and becomes a part of who you are :)
What I'm trying to say is, you have a fine ear for true music my friend and I applaud you for it.
scottturner1994, what Uchida plays now is even more difficult to pull off than Gaspard or Rakh3. Have you heard her play the Debussy etudes? Sure, Rakh3 will get a wider audience (those into sports as well as music) but really who cares.
One thing that refuses to clear out of my mind is the fact that Ms. Uchida will always be the relaxed and simple pianist. I keep on waiting for her to bloom to her full potential, waiting for her to catch everyone's attention with the Rach 3 or Ravel's Gaspard. I want you to mature for the greater good, Mitsuko!
Western culture was killed around the mid 1940s very little significant artistic output has been produced since that time...some are merely waking up to that fact in 2009 the future belongs to something else.
Ms Uchida is a historical freak and an anomaly she is talented relic of a bygone culture and people that is not even her own. .. sort of like if Pamela Anderson were to become an accomplished and celebrated geisha.
pretty nice ..but it is at last only interpretation.. mozart has improvised his music - classical interpretation is absolutely overestimated. a point : "Do not follow the old masters´steps, but seek what they were seeking... " Basho (1644-1694) : japanese haiku - master :-) ! ..you wonna see/hear something realy innovative - how to improvise classical music ?! look for video : "bach sarabande jazz guitar" or visite renatorozic dot com ..you ll be nicely surprised .. :-)

Oh you can't? How deluded you are if you think that. The facial 'expressions' are all for show, and are totally UNnecessary.
