And fistfighting, pugilism, has been on record since ancient Sumer. Since that's what it's called now, translations of early texts refer to the activity as "boxing".

Well it would make sense that Steward is happy - according to him, Wladimir operates at about 40% during his fights. Put simply, Wlad needs a kick up the backside sometimes and that is what his trainer is supposed to do.
Personally, I believe Wlad has better skills than Vitali. However, Vitali has an iron chin and is mentally exceptionally tough. That's why, if they ever fought properly, Vitali would smash the shit out of Wlad.
