Devil's Lake State Park - 2008 June 10 Flooding - Baraboo WI

i live on state road 113 a little ways from the river and the lake was nothin compared to some of the homes that were flooded out

I heard about how much it flooded.. but I didn't know it was that bad.. I hope the buildings are good.. they were beautiful last I seen them before I moved.. [I miss the lake.. SOO much.]

Too bad the state disbanded the Wisconsin Conservation Corps to "save money". Some clean up could have been done by paying minimum wage WCC workers-in-training. Instead, I suppose the DNR workers making $20? an hour were left with the task. There's fiscal planning for you.

@SchlossRitter I worked at Devil's Lake State Park as an LTE Laborer when these floods took place. I made $9.25/hr. We were off work for a couple of weeks do to the park being shut down. I was there and seen the flooding firsthand

That flood was fun, I live about a mile from Devils Lake and we had to get evacuated.

its been fine since then, but we were supposed to camp the weekend after the flood and we had to cancel

omg, i had reservations, the weekend that it flooded, and when they called and said that the park was closed, i was totaly pissed off, but now i know how bad it really was :(

I couldn't believe all the water we got this year. This was worse than the flood of '93.
