I also have the ultimate sweater machine in the box for about 5 years.....I watched you brim hat video and I am not sure where to find the loops to bring up from the first row, finding the first one was pretty easy after that, not so much.....
@Zebraboy19 Thank you for your response. The reviews were all different some loves it and some hated it. Do you like this product a lot? I've ordered it, I'm excited to get it but at the same time I'm worried. But it looks so good on your video.
@muffinn28 Yeah I really like this product. It is fun and easy to use. You can make a winter hat in no time. It is fun making hats and donating them to schools and hospitals as well. I have made double knit hats and scarf sets. This year I got a new machine, The BOND ultimate sweater machine. It was my mom's. She never took it out of the box. I got it this year after she passed away March 28, 2011. I really love that product as well. :) I just love my knitting machines.
@Zebraboy19 Yeah, that's one of my plan. Giving hats and scarves for christmas and giving them to the people who needs it. Do you like the sweater machine better? and you can do different stitches on this machine? I didn't know that. And I'm sorry about your mother.
@muffinn28 Thanks I am getting through it. It is rough. You can do different stitches on the sweater machine. I am sure there is a way to do different stitches on this machine as well. I have never tried it though. I think it would be difficult. I really like both machines. If you looked in my youtube videos you can see some snowmen I made with the innovations machine. I also knit with knitting looms as well. :)
How do you make it so the beginning row doesn't unravel? I am following the directions for casting on, pulling it tight, but it still wants to unravel when I go to pull the piece up and make the brim.
Hi zebraboy19, your videos are great. I have bought a prym knitting machine at mary maxim on line. I am having trouble with the tension of the yarn. I am using red heart super saver yarn. Any suggestions?
@libertylady64 Once again thank you for the compliment. As for the tension are you using the entire tension guide? You don't have to if you are. Red Heart I start with 3 pegs on the tension guide just to get started. I do approximately 7 rounds but on the 3rd round I pull the slack with the loose end of yarn hanging inside. When the machine feels tight take the yarn off one of the pegs on the tension guide. Super Saver I usually use two pegs on the tension guide for a nice stitch.
You will get used to how to use the tension guide the more you use the machine. If it is a newer machine you will have to get it to that break-in point. The machine is still new and stiff. If you still have problems I would suggest lubricating the machine with a plastic safe lubricant. I had to do that with my machine and it has made a huge difference even on dropped stitches. I am able to crank the machine really fast after about 20 rounds from the first round.
Hello Zebraboy19 I just got my Innovations today so looked here on you tube for videos great video for hat brims I am going to try to make one tomorrow was trying the panel but it was really droping stiches what do you do for that thanks for the video can't what to try the hat...thanks again
@707centavo For the panel was the dropped stitches on the ends? The solution is to pull the slack out of the yarn when your knitting back and forth on the ends. Also for the hat you can crank out a longer tube and bring the ends together and gather them that way to make a double knit hat. You can make the tube shorter and create a beanie as well. :) I have also made snowmen decorations, Check out my youtube channel for those videos. :)
@Yanna131094 Yeah 4 ply yarns work good. 4 ply yarns and lower work best on these machines. I mostly use red heart yarns. I have used lion brand. Homespun yarn is hard to work with on the machine unless you have the patience. You can use some 5 and 6 bulky yarns on the machine but be careful when using 5 or 6 bulky yarns as you may put the needles under stress and knock them off the track.
Please let me know when you get the machine and how you like it. If you have any questions ask me. :)
@Yanna131094 Would the machine your talking about be the Prym Knitting Machine? Yes the machine finger hut has on their website is the same machine that I have basically. I have an extra machine that I wrote the company to get a part that I need for it and after I replace the part I plan on selling it. I already have 2 other machines that I use. Don't ask me why I have so many. Like I said I love my knitting machine. :)
@Yanna131094 In my opinion I love my machine. I don't really have anything negative to say about the machine. Anything that goes wrong like dropped stitches is the handlers fault. If you accidentally knock a needle off the track it is very easy to fix. I made a video showing people how to fix a suspected broken machine. You will love your machine. Once you get used to it your creative mind will take over and you will make wonderful projects. Just check out my Christmas collections video's.
Thank you, you have helped me a great deal, although my red heart yarn struggles to go through the needles and gets jammed sometimes. Do you have any suggestions? My machine is also hard to turn sometimes.
@urbancoziness Well if you decide to oil the machine make sure it is a plastic friendly oil. I used Slick 50 one lube on my machine. I soaked some waste yarn and ran it through the machine a couple of times like I was making something. I might have went around about 20 times each. I then used a dry waste yarn and ran that through the machine. I have not had any problems since. I also feel that the machine is so much more looser feeling and way easier to crank. :)
