  • Brava Anna!

  • Precious. Gudrun, thanks for the posting. Could you please also upload the Cara speme?

I wonder if it is still possible for one to download the whole recording (from the radio broadcast)...

  • @yuelang: I've searched and searched, unfort. my old hard drive has crashed meanwhile -> can't upload Cara Speme, sorry.

Such a pity that Anna B. does still not have a baroque solo CD, she is for me the most underestimated baroque mezzo queen (-> her Come Nembo or Agitata da due venti!). Let's keep on hoping and waiting ...

  • @Gudrun74 , thanks for the reply, fortunately, I found the recording online and saved it a few days ago, yay!!!! Her Cara speme is truly enchanting. I am so glad I got hold of it now. If you want I can send it to you. :)

  • I found out about Bonitatibus two weeks ago and love everything she sings from Rossini, Handel, Vivaldi, etc. She is so incredibly versatile and talented.

Thanks for posting this video. Her Sesto is awesome.

  • Welcome to the club! Before this year, I had heard of Anna only in non-baroque. Finding her singing Handel and Vivaldi was a beautiful discovery for me, too. If you like her virtuosic singing, check Handel's "Come Nembo" (2 versions on youtube and one of the best da capos I've heard in my life). Then Vivaldi's "Agitata da due venti", where even die-hard-Bartoli fans praised her. She's incredibly agile and can get so fiery.

  • Very impressive! I'm extremely biased, so I don't see anyone knocking Semmingsen from the podium of my favourite Sesto, but this is fantastic too.

  • I'm with you on this one. I also absolutely like (actually LOVE) Tuva, as YOU must know by now, except that I'm not biased. She really does have a gorgeous voice and gorgeious style too, but A.B. does make a fierce job out of this performance, undisputably, especially since she pumps up the tempo. So let's celebrate the differences, rather than place them on a list.

  • Deal :)

  • Merci Aurele.

It's weird, I had heard Bonitatibus a couple of times before in non-baroque and was somehow neutral, couldn't say whether I found her average "or more". Only now that I hear her singing baroque (well, Handel), I realize she IS amazing, her da capo ornaments are exciting and she really masters the range across alto, mezzo and soprano registers. Now AB is in my personal hall of fame of Handel mezzos haha (and with Kirchschlager and Semmingsen in my fav club of Sestos)

  • Have you heard Lorraine Hunt's brilliant rendition of Sesto? I'm sure she'd make it into your fav club of sestos :)

  • Indeed hillevifan. I know LH only from youtube, but she is (was) definitely in the club
