It's really not fair at all to compare Potts with Pavarotti. First, Pavarotti has been singing this aria for decades vs. Potts who (so far as I know) has no formal training at all.

Besides, Pavarotti is just super human. He's one of those rare voices that only appear every few generations.

Potts is quite good and with some training likely on par with any number of tenors working with various opera companies. Allow him his moment in the sun and be happy for him that he's found his calling.

I sympathize, and not just the voice, but his brilliant emoting. He communicates the drama, desire and grandeur of the song like no one I've ever seen. I just try to be grateful that my time on this planet overlapped with a soul as divinely gifted as Pavarotti.
