Hey guys, i have a question. My current tuning is drop E, but i wanna change it into drop D. Will the scale patterns change or will they remain the same?
very good. cant wait till november 6. nile is doing a signing and listening party for the new album at a music store like 5 miles from where i live. i met sanders at a show. but meeting the whole band is gonna be orgasmic ^ ^ great cover btw
Excellent man. keep it up. i just wish someone would make a cover of this song on drums. if anyone knows of one, please let me know. it would be very appreciated. but beautiful job on the song dude!!!!
Thanks. I used my Peavey Bandit 112 with an Eminence Governor speaker. GNX4 settings were rectifier and probably the greenback 25 cab setting. Scooped mids of course. I recently got a much better digital camera so I'm going to start uploading videos again. This one is hard to see >=O
Solid state? Those are tube amps, unless they released a newer, solid state, model. They are pretty nasty though. All they need is a little boost to be a metal machine, whether it be an overdrive or an EQ boost. I'm partial to EQ boosts myself, they add more balls, whereas OD seems to just add fuzz over your sound. Just my preference though. When I'm in the position to get a new head, I'm going ENGL. Nastiest fucking amps I've ever heard, well aside from Diezel and all that boutique shit haha
Drop A. Super low, haha. My band plays in Drop B so it wasn't TOO big of a change as far as guitar intonation goes. Sonic difference in playability though, the strings are so fucking wobbly. You have to be alot more careful with your technique, every twist and bend is audible.
9's. It makes soloing effortless. Makes your harmonics sound like zakk wylde because vibratos are so much easier. I use to be against it, because I saw it as cheating, but my guitarist convinced me, and I haven't looked back since. If I played in Drop A I'd switch to 10's though, 9's get way too loose at that low of a tuning.
damn I play 10s at C# standard on my sl-3. I might try 10s in B. Also it depends on the guitar, on smaller scaled neck like those with 22 frets I use 11s.
Yeah you have a point. I let my guitarist use my Agile Ghost II, which has a really small fuckin neck, its weird, but he uses 9's and you wouldn't believe how slinky the strings are. I almost can't play it. I once likened it to playing pool with a rope, lol!
I usually play Nile's songs in Drop D, and just transpose up an octave when nessesary, but I've thought about getting a guitar set up for drop A. I don't know if I'd use .09s though, it seems like they'd bee too floppy on the lower strings.
It's total slinkage man. Imagine bending a string, and it goes on forever. It's hard to control at first but you get the hang of it after a while. I just recently upgraded to 10's, because the slinkage you get with 9's somewhat dampens the guitar tone. Since upgrading to 10's it's almost like my guitars volume knob got turned up. But yeah, all my Nile videos I used 9's. Haha.
I know that Karl uses a mix of gauges. He uses .09's on top, and I think his low A is a .72 or something like that. Probably, if I do get a guitar set up for drop A, I'll try .10's first, and if those are too slinky, get some .11's. Great job here by the way. I love your video you made for Ruins as well. These two are without a doubt Nile's best songs. I hope they come out with some more epic stuff soon.
Yeah man I could always tell Karl was using super light gauge strings. When he bends, it looks effortless. You can't do that with a regular set of 14's, haha. If I played in Drop A all the time I'd probably upgrade to 12's, but since my band plays in Drop B I just stick to 10's, they're a good fit. Which reminds me, I uploaded two of my bands songs here on Youtube, check em out!
ive been waiting for a long time for someone to do a cover of this song and im glad u did and its killer dude, can u send me the tabs cause i cant find it on rivers of gore
Do "Chapter of Obeisance before giving breath to the Inert one in the presence of the crescent-shaped Horns" off the same album, or "Burning Pits of the duat". Then I'll really worship you.
Find me a decent tab and I will. There are no tabs for Obeisance and the only tab for Duaut is filled with "not 100% sure" captions. I don't have the time to tab Nile songs myself. Might post Cast Down The Heretic sometime this week.
Haha, I know what you mean man, I don't use tabs anymore, I learn stuff by ear now. And I don't blame you; Duat and Obeisance will rack your brain to the max haha. Yeah Cast Down is pretty sweet, I'll look forward to that one, dude.
Yeah, that's why I did it. Not to show off or say "hey look at me i can play NILE". Its a great song and I thought it deserved to have an accurate cover on youtube. That other one, with 3,000 views, is shit. I think the dude is in Drop D, haha!
Tath was fucking awesome, best cover i've seen yet

Peavey solid state amp 6505+ is the best high gain head I've ever played from. You should check it out. It is NASTY.
