I read the lyric's at my Dad's funeral mass. Somehow, I don't think the Bishop was amused. My brothers and sisters adn my Mother knew that Dad would have loved it! Thanks for posting.
i first heard this woman singing when a doctor by the name of dr sinclair smith from adelaide was operating on my mum the man himself is brilliant he saved my mothers life and introduced us to iris we just love her
I heard "Let the Mystery Be" for the first time in 1992 (give or take a year) while I was traveling thru the farm country of southern Illinois and listening to NPR. I thought of it often, but all I had were snippets of dialogue because of scratchy reception. 15 years later I found it by Googling it. Thank goodness technology finally caught up with my crying desire to find that song!
@golindaguy funny, it had to be around that same time we were traveling from northeast mo to disney world and while passing thru illinois somewhere southeast of st louis i first heard this song on a publi access type radio program. when i got done w/ the mouse , went home and bought the album. ok cd. have 3 of hers now. cool
I feel lucky that by chance I came across Iris earlier this week...I'm 72 and never had heard of her. But now I'm just simply grateful...I've played Our Town with her and Emmy Lou Harris at least 100 times this past week....and this song is so good....does she still perform..Obviously she never got the publicity she deserves. She's simply terrific...
Wow. I had also taped this same Letterman performance. I taped over them regularly with new shows but I just had to keep this one. I had it for years until the tape wore out. I'm like others, there's just something about this song.
today is the first time i ever heard this....... awesome job
