Are fans still welcome to sound checks and to chat with the band? It seems like over time, AFI keeps further distancing themselves from fans, or it seems like AFI doesn't communicate with fans as openly or as well as they have in previous years.

I mean don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE fan of AFI, but it just seems their views of their fans, and the lengths they go to communicate with fans, has just drastically chnaged in 5 years.

absolutely! they still have DF events where they can go and watch the band in the recording studio. they said that DF members actually helped perfect Miss Murder. where they shout "HEY" during the chorus, it wasn't originally there. but some DF members listened to them perform the song and they just randomly shouted "HEY" in places and they included it in the final product.

and look where it got Miss Murder! :)

i'm a member of the DF since 2006. it is totally worth joining. it's like a life time thing it's not like you have to pay every year. AFI give you cool stuff and there is some sort of conection there between you and the band. AFI bring out a zine called Under the Rose for DF members and it is brill... the best ever
