I met Tom Lehrer in 2006. Got to tell him how much I loved to sing "poisoning pigeons in the park" and "about a maid". You are right videoboy, this is very much like something he'd write only a little less weird..

It's not Fred Astaire, although he introduced the song. It's Irving Berlin who wrote the song. And rather than Tom Lehrer, it reminds me more of Allen Sherman (of Hello, Muddah fame)

BTW, the melody is pure Frank Sinatra, isn't it? The parody is a la Tom Lehrer (whose surname means, so appropriately, teacher).

Actually, the melody is pure Irving Berlin; it's "Cheek To Cheek" from "Top Hat" (1935), introduced and popularized by Fred Astair. Sinatra didn't get around to recording it until the 1950's.

Our ancestors knew what they were doing when they added chopped apples to the seder plate! The fiber in horseradish actually helps, too! And the parsley couldn't hoit.

Are you sure about pectin? Pectin is often used to cure diarrhea, not constipation. Pectin is a water-soluble fiber that can bind bile acids and cholesterol in the intestines

My apologies for screwing up the history. The confusion is that the Hebrews were not involved in constructing pyramids 2000 years ago and no mortar was used between the limestone blocks. Mortar, however, has possibly been in use for at least 4000 years and was likely used to plaster the pyramids, in addition to constructing Egyptian buildings while we were there.
