  • This is amazing, and a great setup for the Seder since I have to have it alone tonight. I wish everyone a beautiful, healthy, happy Pesach.

  • @legaljagwolf28. Oh, so sorry you are alone. Next year in Jerusalem. With many friends and family. L'chaim.

  • @USAcolgate: Thank you so much! That means the world to me. I was very blessed in that my husband got home earlier than was expected. My family is over 200 miles away, so getting together for Seder was not an option. We are the only Jews in our city, and the local shul is not a good place for me right now, so I had to be alone. Thank you for reaching out, and may you be blessed for it. Jerusalem is lovely, and I pray that we meet there in the near future. L'chaim and Shalom! Chag Sameach!

  • I smile everytime I watch this!

Hope everyone had a good Pesach yesterday and a great Chag HaMatzot!

    Shabbat Shalom!!

  • Hag PESAH sameah !

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO AND SONG !

    HAPPY PASSOVER

    XOXO

  • But you just *know* that someone's going to plop onto the sofa while hunting for the afikomen...

  • THE MOST DELIGHTFUL PASSSOVER SONG. EVERY KID SHOULD LEARN IT. PLUS THE OLD TIMEY MUSIC IS JUST DELICIOUS.

  • Where's the PESACH? (Roasted shankbone)

  • I loved the constipation part... :p

  • You can watch This Jewish music video any many more Jewish music video and Divrei-Torah video in jvort.com

  • völl_geil_sUcht_mÃl_ÑÂch:_geldeasy_äüf_góòglÈ

  • Wonderful! It DID reminded me of Tom Lahrer (I loved his songs)

  • Wonderful!

  • really helpful! thanks!

  • Surprisingly good singer, good pitch and voice timbre! Who is it?

  • that taught a lot

  • I love his song! Shalom!

  • Love it. Thank you.

  • love it and my little one too. Thank you

  • Love this Song! Awesome Pesach!

  • LOve it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very educational. Nicely done for those who want to learn more about the Seder.

  • Fabulous song and the way you sing it! Great video. We should play this at the first and last Seders!

  • I agree with lustre5.

  • ~Hehehe not really videoboy! I know who Lehrer is. Love him! Have a nice Passover everyone!

  • Great, we'll have it at our Seder tonight. Very educational :-).

    Chag Sameach!

  • Great little ditty. One to teach the children.

  • Chag sameach haverim from Budapest, Hungary!

  • I met Tom Lehrer in 2006. Got to tell him how much I loved to sing "poisoning pigeons in the park" and "about a maid". You are right videoboy, this is very much like something he'd write only a little less weird..

I'd like to use this at the Seder but the "constipation" thing might not go over too well. Is anyone going to show this at the table? It IS brilliant!

  • Chag Sameach!

  • I love the tone and Irwin giggled at the fast-chewing segment. Thank you!

  • This vid is awesome! Love the song, and the clips are great too. Shalom.

  • Great video...happy passover

  • niceeeeeeeee :o)

  • constipation!!!!

  • hahahahahhahahahahhahahahah

  • It's the matzah that causes the constipation--not the good fiber of the charoset. Shees.

  • great piece! can you add some credits in your text about the video?

  • It's not Fred Astaire, although he introduced the song. It's Irving Berlin who wrote the song. And rather than Tom Lehrer, it reminds me more of Allen Sherman (of Hello, Muddah fame)

  • Haha 2:15. Yeah that's basically all I've eaten today and yesterday.

  • yeah its great i love it !

(and u posted it on my birthday , dobble yaeH!)

  • i just showed this to my uncle....he is a rabbi, and he is rolling on the floor with laughter. it was a big hit @ our seder!!!! great job, keep up the good work!!!!!

  • My Great Gramps was a Cantor. He had the best sense of humour and would have loved this! xox

  • Great job!

  • Regarding the discussion about the first letter in 'egg', it seems like a badly executed bet, thus looking like a chaf...

BTW, the melody is pure Frank Sinatra, isn't it? The parody is a la Tom Lehrer (whose surname means, so appropriately, teacher).

    Pesach Sameach!

  • Actually, the melody is pure Irving Berlin; it's "Cheek To Cheek" from "Top Hat" (1935), introduced and popularized by Fred Astair. Sinatra didn't get around to recording it until the 1950's.

  • Oh well, almost (re Sinatra). An improvement on attributing it to Tom Lehrer at least... ;-)

  • It does sound rather Lehreresk!

  • The parody is very Lehreresque but not the melody. I had attributed the song (Cheek to CheeK) to Frank Sinatra but it seems he only sang something written much earlier.

  • To answer Dori 1951 - it's not Sinatra, it's Fred Astaire. Happy Pesach.

  • I loved it! Great song! Chag Sameach Pesach!

  • hahaaa i am singing this at r seder eeek haha

plz check out my vids :]

  • We'll be playing this tomorrow at our seder -- well done!

  • google the vegetarian mitzvah

  • this helps...a lot....thanks :)

  • Why didn't they teach it this way when I was in Yeshiva? I might even had paid attention!

  • hahahaha! nice one

  • Brilliant! Very Tom Lehrer-like (I'm probably the only one old enough here to remember who he is).

  • Yeah, Tom Lehrer also sprung to my mind immediately!

  • No you're not!...and I think it's brilliant too!

  • @videoboy56 I thought of Tom Lehrer too!

  • @videoboy56

    I remember Tom Leherer!

  • @videoboy56 Totally thought for more than half a second, that it was either Tom Lehrer or someone doing one of his songs.

  • @videoboy56 - Me too... Poisoning Pigeons in the Park and Who's Next were my two favorites.

  • very funny and like this for summary of the Passover.

  • I absolutely loved it. Clever &,musical just great . Please do more!

  • Very cute and clever. Thank you

  • So cute!~

  • I LOVE IT! very funny, very clever, and also, as a film director, VERY WELL DONE. The cinematography is very nice, you have some great shots, and the editing and music is terrific as well. I'd like to know what you used to edit this though? I want to say Final Cut?

  • haha. very funny! turns bowels to bricks, hilarious!

  • I have been asked to sing this for our seder this year so I transcribd the lyrics. How do I make them available?

  • Comment removed

  • Whattyathinkiam, sorry, I'm not sure how to make them available, but I'd love to get a copy if you work it out. I suppose you could use a file hosting or sharing service.

  • RE posting the lyrics: You should be able to upload them to Rapidshare (you can guess the web address YouTube won't let me post it) as a Microsoft Word document or something similar. Then come back here and let us know where to find it. We'd be very grateful.

  • Aha! so CUTE! Real clever!

    A happy Pesach to all!

  • This was delightful! It was not only clever and brilliantly done, it was educational. Thank you!

  • Brilliant!

  • If you like this, check out the five "Damaged Care" YouTube videos! It's a musical comedy about health care in America.

  • billyraysheet is TOTALLY CORRECT. The PECTIN and fiber in apples, with the fiber of nuts should truly help counteract the blockage potential of plain white flour matzoh! Our ancestors knew what they were doing when they added chopped apples to the seder plate! The fiber in horseradish actually helps, too! And the parsley couldn't hoit.

  • Are you sure about pectin? Pectin is often used to cure diarrhea, not constipation. Pectin is a water-soluble fiber that can bind bile acids and cholesterol in the intestines

  • Love it! Thanks for sharing..

  • Adorable. But when we were slaves, mortar hadn't yet been invented.

  • Gimme a break! Do you believe they put NOTHING in between the bricks to balance and insulate them?

  • My apologies for screwing up the history. The confusion is that the Hebrews were not involved in constructing pyramids 2000 years ago and no mortar was used between the limestone blocks. Mortar, however, has possibly been in use for at least 4000 years and was likely used to plaster the pyramids, in addition to constructing Egyptian buildings while we were there.

  • would you like to buy a whole set of those gold dishes?

  • jews rock happy passover

  • lol passover WIN!

  • All right! Time to pass the neuroses!

  • love it happy passover to all my landsmen

  • I find haroset actually counteracts the matzo blockages, especially if you make it with green apples.

  • Fabulous! We decided to make it part of our family sedar. from Tova341

  • song sounds like frank sinartra but still great song

  • =] im exited for passover....except for eating matzah for a week haha

    =P

  • Great professional voice and piano accompany The song is great, also. I thought you were a Broadway Star and I hope you are or will soon be. Mazel Tov!

  • Excellent job.

  • Great job ! Loved it.

  • haha

  • So nice!!! Just loved!

  • i 'sang' this song to my mom (more listened to it while saying it) because my mom swears she knows every 'jewish' song, and she didnt know this one. so thank you!

  • i like he say "HAROSET!"

    XD

    its funny.

    i love passover.

  • 2 Weeks Till Passover Can Not Wait

  • This is wonderfully hamish...I love this song...the best version of THE old Song Heaven

  • This is excellent!

  • love it!

  • Great Job! I've listened a dozen times!!! I posted our little afikoman adventure... what a wonderful holiday, bringing families together to celebrate and remember... THANK YOU!!!

  • Funny! The style of the music reminds me of Tom Lehrer.

  • I love matzah. The phrase should be "To bad we can only eat it for a week!"

  • lol good one

  • I'm serious.

  • Cuz a world w/out matzah is like being on marz.

  • Thank you Barry for bringing the deeper meaning of Passover to people who have not grown up in this tradition. I think the symbols are meaningful for everyone. They certainly touched me.

    Noelle

  • Three things is all that is required at the seder (Exodus 12): matzo, maror and lamb, and you forgot the lamb. Oy! But the whimsy is well appreciated and I have passed it on to others to enjoy as well. Thanks for doing this!

  • Lovely. But he got the dipping part wrong.

  • Very cute! Chag Sameach!

    ~Sioux

  • Very Sweet, Educational too!

  • Very Sweet, educational too!

  • haha i love it.

    =]

  • Very nice. Well done!

  • NICE! It's pretty cool.

Btw, yes to me it looks like a "kaf",not a "bet". oh well...

It's so cool how you have American Judaism and all those different kinds of Judaism, but in the end Passover=Passover. nice...

  • I opened our seder with this video, it was a big hit. Can you publish the lyrics for this please?

  • You forgot the shankbone.

  • Chag sameach to al!

  • Great song, but odd that the seder plate has a Hebrew mis-spelling on it. Instead of "beytzah" (egg), it says "keytzah".... oy.

  • No it soesn't. it's a bet. look closely.

  • Umm, I'm Israeli, and that is most certainly not a bet. It's a kaf (really, a chaf). If you have to "look closely," it's not a bet.

  • Wonderfull!!

    Chag Pessah kasher wesameach!

  • Very cleverly done. Enjoyed this.

  • Fabulous!! May all Passover holidays be this fun!

  • I cant wait till seder tonight, have all family over. Happy Passover to all

  • LOVE IT! Clever, funny, and instructive.

    Happy Passover!

  • Oy, such lyrics! And, a piano too! No need to read at the seder tonight. I'll just play the video. It says it all.

    atb,

    Stanley

  • How do you do this this is soo amazing good job! Happy Passover

  • Great job & very professional editing.

It is so comprehensive, that on Passover we will play this video at the table instead of reading the Haggadah.

  • Very well done! I didn't even know what a Seder was.... now I know. Some friends are attending a Seder meal this weekend and I was curious...

  • Well done! Now I'm going to have that refrain stuck in my head all day :p

  • WONDERFUL SINGING VOICE.

  • Who is the singer? Well done! I'd like the lyrics also.

  • I feel a lump in mine BOICH!

  • That's a good one!

  • LOVED IT!!!

Hag Pesach Kasher v'Sameach to everyone!!

  • Barry is so talented! Clever lyrics, fantastic singing voice, cute little video. Just wonderful.

  • hey, they forgot the shank bone - the symbol of G-d's strength and his outstretched arm - saving the jews from bondage and bringing them through the desert into the promised land.

  • Loved this video. It makes the reasons of the Seder fun to keep to teach the children/

Thank you for the cute lyrics.

  • Please share the lyrics is you have them written down. Then I'll be in Heaven...I'm in Heaven... Happy Pesach to all!

  • err..awsome

  • This brought back memories of having a passover seder at my family's house held many years ago. Thank you for presenting this video to us and also to non-jews who might want to learn more about Passover, the meanings behind it, including the blessings and the food used in the seder.

  • That was so funny! I LOVED it!

  • Cute. But, there is no mention of G-d. And really He is the main "actor" in the story.

  • Barry Levy...I wonder, do you think he might be Jewish...!? Tee hee. Happy Passover, everyone.

  • Gee.. you think?

  • AMAZING!!!!! I loved it!

  • I love it--where can I get the lyrics? I want to sing this at my Seder!

  • Did you or anyone find the lyrics? I want to sing it at my Seder too!

  • This is wonderful. I am sending it to my Vietnamese Girlfriend so she can understand what will be going on at the Seder in Shanghai that we will attend...

  • does anyone know who is singing - it sounds like tom leahr but i doubt it

  • Our seder will be better because of this! --Andrea(using Mark's account!)

  • A song for the ages, I'll sing this at all my seders.

  • The best Passover seder song I've ever heard!

  • Excellent song, excellent videography - I can't wait for Rosh Hashannah and Hannukkah!

  • Excellent!

  • Hilarious and educational!
