it might not be open source, but BLENDER is a great free mac application. PENCIL is about the best free animation application. There are sooo many, which is one of the reasons that Mac trounces Windows in every way, shape, or form
@indiefilmmaker2011 I know this comment is two years but it is so dumb I have to say something. Blender 3D is Free open source that was started on Linux and Windows , and later they made it for Mac. Blender 3D is available for Linux , Mac , and Windows. It called cross platform software. Most Linux distributions whole OS is Free open source google the words "apple open source". Apple gets most of it's ideas from Linux, and BSD .
