I would certainly agree that Arkle was a great,but all the other horses would have been beaten by Arkle in the Cheltenham Gold Cup or in any race where he would not have to give huge amounts of weight away to them.Quite simply Arkle was the best steeplechaser ever to grace the turf.

And yes for a population of only 4 million people (to use a boxing term) pound for pound Ireland is easily the best Horse Racing country in BOTH disciplines. You can't dispute any of that. What do you disagree with exactly? That Ireland has a population of roughly 1.3% of the US'. Yet Coolmore is the biggest bloodstock company in the World FACT, nearly every single top jockey in the British Isles is Irish FACT, Ireland produced the greatest NH hunt horse ever (Arkle) FACT, Point-to-Point racing originated there FACT, has great flat horses and trainers (too long to list) FACT.

American Racing is for Americans! Over here no one cares. Nothing wrong with that as i'm sure Irish Horse Racing isn't exactly a hot topic of conversation in America either. At the end of the day Horses are Horses. They aren't exactly patriotic. Coolmore have built their success on the bloodline of a Canadian Horse (Northern Dancer). So American, Irish, English, they're still just horses.

If you're interested just search Wikipedia. Shergar, Nijinsky II (only trained in Ireland), Sinndar, Rock of Gibraltar (7 straight Group 1 races).

Personally i much prefer National Hunt Racing. Istabraq, Best Mate, Red Rum, Dawn Run, Desert Orchid and Arkle (Amazing horse, read about him) were great horses. Moscow Flyer was my favourite though. For 4 years he was never beaten while staying on his feet, in a vintage era for 2 mile chasers too.
