  • That must have been an epiphanic trip. After I watched this vid, I got so many ideas for horror stories...And you saw all these scarecrows live...I'm so envious. BTW, Junji Ito's "Kakashi" manga would go so well with this.

  • When I was 13 years old, I used to have strange dreams about having sex with mannequins that would always end with a nocturnal emission or it would be a mannequin head that would grow a beautiful, human female body and would fuck me very well. Talk about Jungian archetypal experiences.

  • From Mr. Gunning's English Class student d: I've just remembered scarecrows exist to terrify birds but you movie terrified me, too. I am interested in why you took scarecrow photos. Scarecrow mannequins looked like they were alive. Tonight this movie will play in my head.

  • From Mr. Gunning's NGU English Class student C: I think that this moving image is a ghastly ting. There are many mannequins in a field my parernt's home. When I was young, I would see them and play with them and I was scolded by my parents. Mannequins can act as a substitute. Before I went to bed it makes me pull my quilt over myself. But I think that mannequins are needed becausse they can protect a field from birds. But my first impression is afraid. I think that nobody will like it.

  • From Mr. Gunning's NGU English Class student B: My hometown also uses scarecrow mannequins. I saw scarecrow mannequins for the first time when i was an elementary school child. I felt very scared so I wanted to keep away form it. Your video makes me remember the feeling when I was a child.

  • From Mr. Gunning's NGU English class student A comment: I felt image of death, ruin, surrealism, because of dark pictures and they were scary. If someone watches this video, horrible scarecrow mannequinsmay appear in his/her dreams. Similarly, I never forget.

  • From Mr. Gunning's English class student comment: Fear sometimes shows up in our daily lives. The author of the video successfully exposed the fear which you usually do not notice.

  • From Mr. Gunning's English class student comment: I think your music is very good because I got scared at the pictures. I have never thought scarecrow mannequins are horrible, but I can't pass the rice fields (maybe)

  • From Mr. Gunning's English Class a student comment: Thank you for your great movie. I felt the scarecrow is very lonely because he stands alone for a long time around the clock. I sympathize to him.

  • Wow this was very Beautiful.. Loved it :)

  • very nice magenta in blue. wonderful portraits. i would have loved a little more context to each. there's no way of knowing you were on a bicycle in japan. or even in japan, or even in the countryside. but still, wonderful.

  • Gosh, that music is unnerving...

  • Real creepy!

  • Nicely filmed! :)

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa........

  • i take it that youre steven rollinson. some really beautiful images. shame i cant seem to find them uploaded anywhere other than in this video...

  • could you provide a source to these beautiful images please?

  • These are a small collection of photos on the subject I took wile riding bicycle through small mountain villages in Gifu japan. What would you like?

  • All of your images in this video are just too beautiful to choose between them. And Im not exaggerating when I say that. If I found a photography book with just a couple images like that I wouldnt leave the store without it. if you uploaded a set of photographs on a site like flickr Im sure other people would appreciate them just as much. Thats the best way to share photos with a large audience these days if youre not being published.

  • I have lived in Gifu City for 6 years and the first time I ever saw these scarecrows they scared the crap out of me. They look like a child has been crucified in the middle of a field.

  • Wasn't this music used at the start of Ghostbusters?

  • This is the first time I've ever heard Harry Lubin's Fear theme from One Step Beyond completely. An incredible piece.

  • terrified if i awoke and saw one of those staring me dead in the face.

If anyone is into mannequin movies, check out Maniac, Tourist Trap, Lisa and The Devil, Hatchet For The Honeymoon and Carry On Screaming. You will enjoy them. Sincerely, M. Marrero

  • Check out my remix. lol

  • Who composed the music for this?

  • I collect mannequins, and dress them up in every room of my house. One even sits on a broken toilet. Does that make me a weirdo?

  • Nobody finds weird that most scarecrows the Japanese use actually look like Europeans? Funny how sense of beauty varies.

  • The mannequins are beautifully made. They are just dirty. And I am just afraid of mannequins. They mannequin that chills me is on 3:34

  • tats freakY!!!

  • No, PhilippeCa, that does not make you wierd. I liked it too. And, LOL this vid was kinda funny! I remember when I would go to a mall, see a mannequin and say, Stop staring at me, you freak! Freeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaakkkk! Mom would look at me like WTF?

  • i can't say, almost?

  • Best music ever. I grew up watching One Step Beyond, and that scary theme really song stayed with me.

  • Where did you find such a great copy of the "One Step Beyond" theme? It works really well with the film.

  • Hey, if you're gonna put something scary in your cabbage patch, why not something that looks like a pretty girl's disembodied head?

  • I think it would be slightly less creepy if there were "happier" music...

  • como se llama esa cancion?

  • Excellent.

  • molaaa !!!

  • aaaaiiii k mieeeeoooo

  • Que inquietantes los espantapajaros...maniquíes desechados+una tétrica música ambiental=escalofriante

  • Wow!!! The music was by far scarier than the scarecrows!

  • No nos dan miedo sus formas, ni sus vestidos.El verdadero miedo reside en convertirnos en alguno de ellos.

  • Qué temores más metafísicos y filosóficos los tuyos!!!

  • Awesome stuff!!! Anyone know what the music is?

  • The music is Harry Lubin's "FEAR" it was from a TV show in the 60's called "One step beyond"

  • Great!

  • I live near the neogawa river; about 16 km from tanigumisan and I have seen these creepy scarecrows in ricefields all around here. This film does a great job in documenting these kakashi; they are every bit as creepy in real life.

  • Wicked video and the music is so gooood.I find myself always looking for a new scarecrow for ya.
