Thanks! Actually, it is me playing but there seemed to be some kind of tape delay on the recording so the music didn't match up. Not sure how I can prove this but maybe I'll record it again just for kicks.

when i watch the video, the audio and video are in perfect sync, it doesn't keep going at the end. Also, this performance isn't flawless, no offense chris, I even noted minor mistakes that the average joe wouldn't pay attention to, but being a musician i could tell they were there. If he WERE to fake this, don't you think he'd use a recording that didn't have flaws to it? And when he tunes his banjo during the song you can tell because the note in the song gets tuned up when he tunes....

...thats just far too much work of practicing syncronizing it with the music to fake, if he had that much time and practice "faking" it, don't you figure he'd have enough time to actually try to learn the song instead? Thats just my opinion on why I think he did not fake this.

I've just watched the video again, and what can I say? It was sync'd in time and all ended on time. There must've been some time lapse the first time I watched it, so I take it all back! I teach banjo myself so was naturally suspicious the first time I saw it all out of time, but now I think it's genuine! Thanks Ebaum744 for making me take another look! The guy's done a good job afterall!
