well actually one aspect of true iron bone training including shin training involves kicking solid, hard objects. and there is a certain method as well as tools you should use to do it. Every school has their own methods. I do not personally see how kicking a pad will toughen the shins though, but who knows.
consistent kicking of softer objects (like pads or heavy bags) is more effective at long-term conditioning than hard objects like coke bottles or trees.
@dangflo no. don't kick solid things. pads and heavy bag is enough. if you have a nice banana tree handy then that will suffice. do NOT kick oak trees.
