For another reason, too: everyone knows that rock and roll evolved from the blues, which of course originated in the southern US first among slaves, then their descedants. Elvis, Buddy Holly, Ray Charles, The Isley Brothers, Chuck Berry, etc. The Beatles were dying to "break through" to the American audience, and in fact, when they gave "Love Me Do" a test spin for American Bandstand audiences, they were laughed at. It took another attempt or two to finally to do it. You know nothing.

Also, don't forget Les Paul and Leo Fender, who are both American, for developing the popular electric guitars and pickups that we use today.
