He should read Tipitaka - the originl teaching of the Buddha to see how beautiful and profound the teaching is. If one follows the Buddha's teaching properly, one will finally attain nibbana - enlightenment. The supreme bliss that Buddha taught for 45 years.

Buddha was a prince and king in waiting. He grew up with god concept. He never felt happy. He kept thinking why human have to suffer due to birth, old age, sickness and death. He found the solution - enlightenment.
