  • @dicky guapo: The laws you make are man-made. They're just fictively attributed to Allah as their source. Every religion from time immemorial claims its moral precepts are divine in origin, revealed from on high. But scholars of world religion can demonstrate that they are all of human origin, all follow a similar evolution. Epistemologically, you'd be hard-pressed to furnish the what you deem God's morality is self-evidently from God and not of man's doing.

  • i was waiting for the cretin who said johann was bringing nothing to the debate and was only interested in attacking islam.

    WHAT AN IDIOT YOU ARE.

  • this guy is only able to express his position because we live in a liberal democracy. a couple of hundred years ago the country wasnt and opinions like his were punishable by death. thankfully we have evolved, its just a shame this forms of irrational faith-based thinking haven't, and probably wont.

  • Throughout the whole debate, the muslim did not deny that the stoning of apostates, women and gays was not part of his beliefs.

  • @dickyguapo Indeed! He just tried to deflect the argument to other issues...

  • @dickyguapo because we muslim accept the fact that we are not sovereign being to make laws for us and choose whatever way of life instead we gratefully submit our will to the Almight creator who is the source of life and honour. the fundamental difference between so called liberal secular democrat and muslim is nothing but submission to the Creator. just analysis the meaning of two words islam and secularism.

  • Just leave the Middle East alone, they'll catch up in a couple centuries.

  • @Experiment47 yeah then they will conduct illegal war of their own and spend 45 million quid a day on their equivalent of the European Union, really dreamy stuff... can't wait

  • @Experiment47 No its 16.39 billion quid a year according to the UK gross contribution from 2008. If you take one billion as equalling a thousand million that adds up to about 45 million quid a day. Of course this is due to go up to over a cool 9 billion NET contribution, currently being 'negotiated'.

  • @chrish12345 LOL Like I care.

  • @Experiment47 No that's cool, I just don't like the look of our future in the West at the moment, not that I'd rather be living under an Islamic regime either.

  • In some elections, majorities are choosing THEIR form of religious Sharia rule, as Khan says.

However freedom for those of minority Muslim faiths and more secular Muslims is overruled by the majority, often with addl violence. This example of pure majority rule is rejected by Enlightenment values in America, which makes a strong effort to protect minority rights (at least on our soil), very imperfectly, and unfortunately also extending to non-human corporations with a neoliberal econ agenda..

  • watch him describing american politics at last, much sense.

  • The moderator is as deluded as the fundie, there is no difference except that one of them takes his fantasy a bit further.

  • To add to Johann's point, Pakistan general election 2008: Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal Pakistan, the Islamist coalition, got a pathetic 2.2 % of the vote.

The other countries mentioned by Sajjad Khan and not addressed by Hari do not hold elections that are genuine enough to be worth consideration.
