1993 season was a year (103w-59l), but fuck those dodgers and the braves that year. That was the year where we had Bonds, Clark, Clayton (rookie year), McGee, Thompson, Williams, Burke, Beck , Swift. Man we were on a roll that year. Its to bad MLB should off realign the divisons back in 1993 where we would off won the wild card that year. but that what they will say all the time " SHIT HAPPENS"

I remember ...I think it was 97...they stopped using this intro. I would miss this intro cuz it would still show Clark after he left. I tried searching for this intro back in the late 90s on Napster and could never find it. I searched for this on youtube and couldnt find it. I gave up searching for this and now I found it!!! I can't believe someone STILL HAD IT!
Something just occurred to me regarding this spot -- it's performed by Tower of Power, the East Bay R&B chart-toppers. Remember who once played bass for ToP?
OMG, the memories. Will the Thrill and his swagger. Barry Bonds B.S. (before steroids) in his prime. Shooter Beck (RIP). And "The Boys Are Back" was significant b/c the team barely escaped being sold to the Tampa Bay group earlier that year.
In reality, MLB screwed the Fla group out of the team - they were willing to pay more than Magowan et al, but the sale was nixed b/c T/SP's TV market is tiny compared to SF/Oak/SJ.
It was sad that Tampa Bay had trouble selling out playoff games in '08.
My dad and I used to watch San Francisco Giants on KTVU Channel 2. I remember those good ol' days until KNTV MSNBC 11 took away SF Giants for their station, damn.
The problem is that KNTV is more attractive to the Giants b/c NBC fourth in the ratings and Fox is either #1 or #2 nowadays, with blockbuster shows in American Idol and House. KTVU doesn't dare bump those shows for the Giants.
I'm not sure why it makes a difference since it's the same crew on 11 as was on 2, but it really does. I can't explain it.
It's because of that Raj Mathai dude, I think he's sort of unnecessary. Plus, the Giants on NBC just isn't right. They will always be on FOX2 in my heart.
I think that in a very short period of time the Giants will cut ties with NBC11 and return to KTVU, where they belong. It just isn't Giants Baseball without Channel 2.
YEAH! This was during my college days in San Diego...away from the Bay Area. Sad I missed it but stoked to see spots like this. The Padres were such an boring team to have to deal with for a few years.
@Gunnersfan22 That was the best Giants team I can remember. Thanks to Peter M and the big money that kept them in town and eventually got the new park built.
Things are going to be different now since it's life after Bonds now, Im a Dodgers fan myself that lives in the bay area but I wanted Bonds back for another year in frisco because he has heated up our rivalry but things arent going to be the same anymore, at least for right now it wont be since you guys are rebuilding, I was pissed when the Giants just treated him as a "passing by player", they didnt even offer him a "take it or leave it" deal, Bonds was the face of the team for 15 years.
KRBK in Sacramento (nowadays KMAX CW 31) used a similar package for its coverage. The difference, of course was use KRBK and one of its many 31 logos..
Anyone remember why Clark got in the ump face and wagged his finger at him on top of that?

Awesome commercial, which brings back a lot of memories.
False advertising though... since the boys are no longer on 2. Can you make an updated version that says, "The Boys Are Back, Back on NBC 11??"
Fun commercial nonetheless!

Don't forget that the Giants/Dodgers rivalry would no longer exist if the Giants we're the Tampa Bay Giants right now.

I agree, KTVU was so much better when the Giants were on channel 2 and this is coming from a Dodgers fan, our rivalry just isnt the same anymore.

I remeber during the summer when school was out staying up sometimes past ten or so and watching the Giants games on KTVU 2 those were good times.

Remember that 1993 was supposed to be the Giants first year playing in St. Petersburg. Peter Magowan saved the franchise at the last minute.
That explains the line: "and that's where there going to stay!"
Then, we got the most bittersweet season in Giants history. This was a stronger team than both the 1989 and 2002 NL championship teams.
