Asus Maximus Formula. My Q6600 G0 runs 3.6GHz with air cooling and 1600MHz on the FSB without any problems at full load using this motherboard.

Still only a fraction of the money I saved on using an overclocked Q6600 was used on the extra the Max motherboard costs. I don't think I can get 1600MHz FSB reliable on many other motherboards.

neither of those boards support dual x16 pci-e, meaning your SLI goes out the window, might as well sell one of those cards :P

An evga 680i SLI A1 Revision, is quite cheap and has some serious overclocking potential with the p32 bios

geez, talk about overkill. You need that much space for all your "media"? and 8gb's? unless you're running vista 64, then there's not really a reason to go more than 4gb's, and thats on regular vista... XP Pro only detects 3gb's at most.

Ahhh! It looks pretty good, I might recommend that graphics card to a friend who is looking at buying a cheap graphics card to upgrade. I'm running a Q6600 with a nvidia 7950GT, it's pretty sweet, but i'm waiting untill the 9 series to see about upgrading it to something more serious. :)

you have a quad core processor and only 2 gigs ram? I have 4 gigs with a dual core. By the way, dual or quad core cpu's won't do anything different. Adobe's programs are the only ones so far that support dual core ANYTHING.

Adobe is not the only one producing multi-threaded software. Windows Media Encoder, Yafray, Maya, Mental ray, Texture maker, AutoCAD 2000i, 3D Studio MAX, Quake 4, Call Of Duty 2, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Crysis.

Dual core is becoming mainstream, quad will become mainstream soon, especially when OCT processors come out and will be a staple of PC gaming. Also he just dropped in another 2GB of ram which he got for $30 (800 Mhz OCZ).

This case is indeed very good.

It runs without problems at 3.6GHz / 1600MHz FSB (400*9) at standard voltage settings and memory at 4-4-4-12

I assume the combination of the Zalman air cooler and the very "windy" case design of this Antec case makes it a good overclocker.

the gtx is a much faster card than a 8800gt, but much more expensive, there are new 8800gts with a g92 chip in them and there is also a 9000 series coming out.

I wouldn't say 'much' faster. The difference is typically always less than 20% and is usually always less than 10%. While the price drop is about 50% so there is defintely more value in the GT. Especially when you can get 2 GT's (if you look carefully) for the price of 1 GTX.

a beast pc is a QX6850 oc'd (2xultra or 2x2900xt) a p35 or X38 mobo with a 1800 mhz ddr3 and proberly a Kandalf LCS case
