way to windy to bring a ship that size in to port .....captain and pilot must have rocks in there heads ...tug boats way to small for that job to ,,,hhhhhmmmmm
thats what you get with low power tugs , and stupid tug masters, pusing in the middle!, instead of front or aft!, can push al you want, but you need horses here when you push in the middle!
The German BND is the renamed 3rd Reich GESTAPO.The BND had organized the delegate Scheuermann of our county to visit or home.To allow him to personally experience how my brother and our patents had been tortured. The BND continued to torture my brother. He was assassinated on July 11th2009.Half a year after the assassination of my brother the CDU delegate Mappus from our district town Pforzheim was made prime minister of the German land of Baden Würtemberg
@msuct ... Master and pilot in agreemen " require " a small tug , and .... you know , some money for pilot ,some for master :)))) but , i, m sure you know that .
too much wind from the seaward side was too much for these tiny tugs to over come. looks like the tug in front didn't allow the inboard tug to move up closer to the bow. if this had been done the tugs would have had a ready escape route and this wouldn't have happened. thankfully no one appears to have been hurt and i am sure after a little repair time the tug returned to service.
Debussy is 300 m long and 40 m wide. Port regulations call for tugs having a total of at least 14,400 hp to move boats longer than 250m. In this case the three tugs had a total hp of 4800 hp.
On March 8, 2010, around 16, container vessel "CMA CGM Debussy, French flag, was involved in an accident. During the move from berth 123 to berth 115, "CMA CGM Debussy" hit the ship "Haci Fatma Sari, stationed in berth 114, and the tug" Vadeni ", participating in maneuvers. No human casualties or signs of pollution. Debussy vessel safely moored in berth 115. The case was taken up by the research department of the Captaincy Zonal constant for the causes that led to the production of collision.
@racerboat56 True - merchant ships are often registered in a country different than that of the ship's owners, usually to save money or avoid certain regulations and so fly the flag of that country. The flag on the Debussy is actually Greek not French as the maritime news quote I copied stated.
One totalled tug with complements of CMA CGM.., was this tug taking on water after being crushed against the dock..? Guess there were just to little sufficient powerful tugs available in this hard wind situation...
I do not understand why in the hell would the harbor tug be in the inside while docking or undocking. I would have been on the port side of that ship. no matter who or what pilot wanted me inbetween a ship and a dock.. what an asshole captain!! you need to come on down and run a boat in the mississippi river.. youd know where not to be brotha.. you put your crew and yourself in a deathly situation. id fire you ass!!
@Jaket2000 -Cpt: Yhar, I just got me a glance at that ship's master. Yharrrr, blast me boots! I shoulda known it was that scoundrel Capn' Sparrow agin! Kraken must've spit im out! I'll turn Sparrow ta squid bait when I get me hooks on im!
Hmmm.. and were Class advised? lol The Incident report in the ISM would've made interesting reading.. but as usual... "Vessel to Pilot's Advice.. Master's Orders"
i have been to constanta many times and its very very tight turn and for big ship like this tug support is mandatory! any failure and boom you go crushing other things
can anyone with marine experience in ships answer this? Obviously the captain has to get weather info before departing however depending on the wind factor I thought there would be some sort of a calculation that must be made to determine how many tugs are required to safely depart a vessel of this size? Obviously the captain here did not make that calculation, if there are not enough tugs it really is at the mercy of the wind.
Strong wind, large sail surface, underpowered tugs on starboard side and I'm guessing, no tug with tow winch on the port side. They should' ve aborted waaay sooner, it was clearly going wrong from the start.
@Gegerys hitting ship is cma cgm marseille company and moored vessel is turkish ship, how could you expect moored ship to avoid other one???? any idea about seamanship????
fucking indians...people with no tradition in shipping...just go pick a banana and leave this to the professionals, like Greeks, English and Scandinavians
in 22 years of tug work i've never seen a stupid thing like this! a container carrier like that requires at least 5000 hp to be successfully pushed in case of a side wind stronger than 30 knts. Those two tugs seem far less powerful than that. Ship's captain and harbor pilot had their eyes and brains turned off...
i mine opinion , underpower tug at the stb side and also the master should had antisipate and safe his own vessel by moving away also the wetaher played a critical role, but correct me if im wrong the ports side door was open wrongggg once it star taking water your going down!!
I wonder what they were shouting other than "they that damn ship away from mine!" It could have been a lot worse if that ship nailed the corner of the pier.

Those mooring lines got pretty tight when the tug rammed the wharf good to see the landing gang run towards the edge of the wharf they could have all been cut in half if it snapped and seriously what in hell where those tugs doing on that side anyway?

@jonicharlie nothing? look at the container ship. No damage. The tug prevented the container ship to hit the quay. It played very expensive buffer ;)

That's pretty pathetic! The tug had shitloads of time to get out of the way. Fuck the pilot, the tug skipper should have used a bit of initiative!
