  • Richard's singing wasn't much, but let's face it-he could have been Pavarotti and next to Karen, he would have sounded like crap. She was such a rare jewel!

  • Smooth and satisfying.

  • Very Good :)

  • OMG My high school show choir sang this song. One of my favorite. Thanks for posting this.

  • Has Homie got a lisp?

  • 1:16 - Sandy Duncan?

  • Omg. @ :57 The little kid delivers a low blow to Mr. Young.

  • This is kind of a silly clip, but this song really captures the spirit of Saturday being such a great day! Love all of the pics of the Carpenters!

  • Too bad Karen didnt do a duet with David Gates or cover some of Breads hits like If, or Make it with You

  • @MrJacMac1986 Agreed. David Gates was one of her favorite male vocalists.

  • must be a 3rd or 4th generation copy from the original master tape

  • feeling dizzy looking at this clip...hahaha...but good though

  • THIS IS A FUCKING CLASSIC!!!

  • When Richard sings alone, the voice that comes out is yeech, but when he couples his voice with Karen's, something magical happens and the two in unison sound terrific.

  • @mrshinyshoes Yeah, I never cared for Richard's singing voice. Karen adds that magic and together they sound great!

  • Wow an unexpected treasure. Richard always did fantastic backing vocals but little did we know he has a perfectly workable lead vocal. I know their was a storm of discontent and the world wasn't really all that happy for anyone behind the scenes but still this is a welcome song. Thanks for posting and a big shout out to all my many fellow Carpenters fans. We will never stop remembering and cherishing this world class duo.

  • I LOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEE THIS SONG!!! This, together with Druscilla Penny, Raidy Days and Mondays, One Love, A Place to Hideaway among others which are included in one album brings, back fond memories OF SOMEONE I LOVED SO DEARLY from long ago hehehe. THANKS FOR POSTING!!!

  • It was nice seeing Actor Robert Young from Marcus welby MD fame & Arti Johnson from Laugh in fame & Comdian actress Sandy Duncan again with Richard & Karen Carpenter!

Brought back alot of good memories.

    Thanks for posting this video.

  • What a beautiful lady and a wonderful voice! I miss her so much. Saw The Carpenters once in Sacramento, around '73 or '74. Let's just say sometime in the Early to mid seventies!

  • this was a jaunty cheerful song...but be careful...it will get stuck in your head! It reminds me a little bit of "feelin' groovy" song. They would make a good mash up.

  • you must be using 'terrible' in the french sense of terrific !

  • Richard Carpenter is a great songwriter, composer and producer. After listening to this clip, I actually think he has a voice - perhaps, not as powerful as Karen's but he has a nice tone.

  • This is a wonderful clip. One of my favorite songs from childhood. I think the blonde lady who shows up is Sandy Duncan. The blonde guy with glasses looks really familiar, he was on a lot of gameshows back in the 70's. Who is he?

  • Arte Johnson I believe

  • known on Laugh In too

  • Perhaps Richard's singing problem was his lisp. His voice is great.

  • It's fascinating to see what people's sensibilities were before the music video really emerged as an art form. Feels uncomfortable and forced, in a way. Anyhow, this delightful ditty has always been one of my favorite Carpenters tunes, glad a video exists of it, even if it's contrived... :) Firestartertwisted, on the "A Song For You" album, there are three novelty tunes; Flat Baroque, an intsrumental; Piano Picker, and the surprisingly witty "Intermission".

  • I can't past his lisping.

  • Richard was a great songwriter, producer, and arranger, but singer?? Ugh, no way! Goes to show you singing talent doesn't always run in the family! Lol.

  • I love Richard 's voice !

  • this song was kicker..!!

    so quick..so melodic..harmonious..

    his voice kicks..!

    carpenters rule..!

    pedro d.

  • did they do any more songs like this?

  • i love this song!! im only 16 but when i was 10 i knew all the words because i had the cd

yeah i thought i'd just share that with everyone lol

    thanks for uploading this! =D

  • q buena musica...no me quejo de estos tiempos, pero en al mirar al pasado tudo se ve tan prometedor y grandioso. Q sigua la buena musica como la dos los carpenters.

  • ..."Some sleepless night, if you should find yourself alone..." immediately followed.

  • This is Lyon.

    Mary is looking for Linda.

  • Heheh, wow, looked like Sandy Duncan and Artie Johnson popping up towards the end.

  • Ha,,this is funny !

  • Karen doesn't have much to do here; it looks like she wished she could have been playing her drums....

  • Because, the Carpenters were a group or duo so they both sang. I happen to like his voice. Yes I love Karen's voice too!

  • I don't think it should be too much to ask for a guy to sing a song he writes occasionally....

  • lol

  • Because I sincerely love water, but only exist schitz and champaign in your mansion.

  • schitz? is that a drink?

  • Richard has a wonderful voice. He is a genius songwriter-arranger. True, with a voice like Karen's, almost anyone is like cheap beer. But I really love this song-- and also Piano Picker!

  • I wish someone would post the show... my friends were two of the kids that were on that show.

  • Excellent, Excellent Video, wish someone would put these ALL on dvd's that I could buy!
