This animation is not the quality needed to get into Ryerson, not even close. I know students who are now attending Ryerson and I have watched them produce beautiful videos that got them accepted. Animated submissions may be highly looked upon but for that to be the case the animation needs to be extremely well done. The quality of this animation is horrible. You may know someone who overlooks the submissions but I doubt it will help your chances of getting accepted.

@CallyWuhzzle In that case, maybe I should put up some of my life drawings? Or did you think that poor little no name colleges were too shitty to offer classes like that? Just because we're not as well known/smaller does not make our school worse than yours. In professions like ours, networking is everything. I'm pretty glad I don't have 100s of students in my class. I like getting to know people I'll be working with one day.

@WafflesMC A friend of my dad's is on the panel of people who look over submissions to Ryerson. She said she thought that this film was superb, told me animated submissions are looked highly upon and encouraged me to submit it to both schools I'm applying to even though its only required for Ryerson. She's an award winning director. Do forgive me if I take her word over yours.
@KewlKyla Since I'm not in college and have had zero training, of course it isn't college level. It is successful in that it accomplishes the mission which the school set for its applicants; which was to show a change or transformation in 90 seconds or under with any medium. The test is to see who can do that, and how creatively they can do it.

I'm an animation student and even I can see that this animation is a piece of shit. There is only one way that she could have possibly thought that this animation was at all "superb". She must have been really, really, really high. I wish I had could have been that high when I watched this video maybe then I would have enjoyed it too.
It's lovely, but the anatomy's a bit off and I feel like the eyes are almost too detailed. It's great otherwise, it's just that anatomy seems a bit off and looks a bit jerky at points. But well done. (:
Hnng. The animation is a bit rough(Particularly at the part with the main character is flying), but I think it's a really nice message and a cool concept. Also, faries. FARIES.
My god, you finished it, yes! You've improved so much with drawing people, though these are fairies. I especially love the wings when they fly, very smooth and graceful. A bit sad at the end but good message. Don't let anyone crush your dreams tribbs, soar above it all and create magic. Sorry, hope that isn't sounding terribly cheesy :)
I think this has a very beautiful message :) There are a few things I would suggest. When she is climbing the tree and all we see is her black silhouette I would sugesst working on the hair and the body movement as she goes along. It seems to erratic and not very fluid. Also when she is wiggling in the cucoon the tree changes shifts on the top, I would suggest trying to fix that as best you can and when the cucoon drops I would make it a more straight down, and faster drop, it would add more
anatomically the upper half of the leg is about the size of the torso,and the lower leg not including the foot is the same size as the upper. just to let you know~
I like the entire idea and the expressions you did on the faces are magnificent but you could use a little work.. but besides that it was beatlutifull!!
Some constructive criticism: I love this video, and there's nothing wrong with it, but I think that the glow that was on her in the middle was a little too heavy and made things a bit blury. Hope you get accepted into that school!
I'm being serious tribbs here; if you never did COTW ever again and just did beauties likle this video forever more, I would be entertained just as much :D (not that I dislike cotw, this stuff is just so fresh ^^)

constructive criticism: your awesome. I would only extend the wing getting ripped off a few frames so it is more emphasized. I had to rewind the video a few times to see what happened. Either way, love it. You are an exceptional animator and storyteller :)

@BrownieProductions12 As far as I know, saving a pencil animation as a .mov file only works on macs. But if you are using a mac then I don't really know how to fix it, sorry.

@BrownieProductions12 If you need to open it in Pencil again, go on File > Open Recent or File > Open and choose your file to open. If you wanna edit it you would need to save it as a mov file (damn you Windows!) and open it in something like Windows Movie Maker, but since you can't save it as a mov, I really don't know how to help, sorry! If hope the rest of my advice helped ^^'

the arm's a tad too small in her "big moment" when shes smiling with the wings. since it's supposed to be her joyous moment, i would focus on that little shot to make her look amazing, draw without rush, focus on little things, that sort of thing. well done -3
great story line and very true. the worse thing a person can do is let that negative person take over them; I've been there, it's not a good feeling at all. the most important person you should impress is yourself ~.^ great job I really like the character's faces, and I agree about the color of the wings; probably should have used a softer color because the pink was really loud and offset the black and white. a cooler color (blue, purple, etc.) would've complemented it better than warm colors.

@WafflesMC A friend of my dad's is on the panel of people who look over submissions to Ryerson. She said she thought that this film was superb, told me animated submissions are looked highly upon and encouraged me to submit it to both schools I'm applying to even though its only required for Ryerson. She's an award winning director. Do forgive me if I take her word over yours.

@KewlKyla Since I'm not in college and have had zero training, of course it isn't college level. It is successful in that it accomplishes the mission which the school set for its applicants; which was to show a change or transformation in 90 seconds or under with any medium. The test is to see who can do that, and how creatively they can do it.

I'm an animation student and even I can see that this animation is a piece of shit. There is only one way that she could have possibly thought that this animation was at all "superb". She must have been really, really, really high. I wish I had could have been that high when I watched this video maybe then I would have enjoyed it too.

When she climbs, its a tad jerky, and at 1:07, her arms look small. Thats just my opinion, it was utterly fantastic otherwise!!!

My god, you finished it, yes! You've improved so much with drawing people, though these are fairies. I especially love the wings when they fly, very smooth and graceful. A bit sad at the end but good message. Don't let anyone crush your dreams tribbs, soar above it all and create magic. Sorry, hope that isn't sounding terribly cheesy :)

I think this has a very beautiful message :) There are a few things I would suggest. When she is climbing the tree and all we see is her black silhouette I would sugesst working on the hair and the body movement as she goes along. It seems to erratic and not very fluid. Also when she is wiggling in the cucoon the tree changes shifts on the top, I would suggest trying to fix that as best you can and when the cucoon drops I would make it a more straight down, and faster drop, it would add more

Some constructive criticism: I love this video, and there's nothing wrong with it, but I think that the glow that was on her in the middle was a little too heavy and made things a bit blury. Hope you get accepted into that school!

constructive criticism: your awesome. I would only extend the wing getting ripped off a few frames so it is more emphasized. I had to rewind the video a few times to see what happened. Either way, love it. You are an exceptional animator and storyteller :)

@BrownieProductions12 As far as I know, saving a pencil animation as a .mov file only works on macs. But if you are using a mac then I don't really know how to fix it, sorry.

(for examlpe adding text to it etc...)???

@BrownieProductions12 If you need to open it in Pencil again, go on File > Open Recent or File > Open and choose your file to open. If you wanna edit it you would need to save it as a mov file (damn you Windows!) and open it in something like Windows Movie Maker, but since you can't save it as a mov, I really don't know how to help, sorry! If hope the rest of my advice helped ^^'

the arm's a tad too small in her "big moment" when shes smiling with the wings. since it's supposed to be her joyous moment, i would focus on that little shot to make her look amazing, draw without rush, focus on little things, that sort of thing. well done -3

great story line and very true. the worse thing a person can do is let that negative person take over them; I've been there, it's not a good feeling at all. the most important person you should impress is yourself ~.^ great job I really like the character's faces, and I agree about the color of the wings; probably should have used a softer color because the pink was really loud and offset the black and white. a cooler color (blue, purple, etc.) would've complemented it better than warm colors.
