  • Lon Cheney Jr. was great in that, although "The Wolfman" was made in 1941, after the depression and during war time, although people were still rationing at the time and Im not sure what the budget situation was at the time but it may not be a fair comparison. Hammer horror was great and if you want a non related Chris lee movie, check out "The Pit and the Pendulum" I also suggest the history of horror series. Lugosi or Oldman, for me its a tough pick.

  • Thing is, the old one at the time would've made this generation laugh alot despite it being "Shocking at the time". I think there were some stuff that they could've done at the time like have an actual trained dog to play Dracula's black wolf look. Or release a few bats near the window and as they go away Dracula's in their place(with trick transition). But..am going off too much on this. Both were classic love them both lots.

  • @thriller2rayne Thats a good pointt, why didnt they use those? A possibiity off the top of my head is....his was released during gthe deression and Universal had cut major costs riht accross the board and "Thrillers" later to be "Horror" would have been the bottom of the list. So maybe thats it, or maybe they just dropped the ball. Good comment.

  • @HorrorMovieReviewGuy Hmmm..it can be a possibility. But then again you compare Dracula to a movie like "The Wolfman". Where the style is similar and Dracula could've used the same transformation effect. Or the mist effect since in the novel Dracula has the ability to turn to mist. But it's one of those things that a person from the outside can sense the flaws of what's inside. It's times like these i wish that Bela Lugosi was born later so we could see him in the Hammer horror movies or later.

  • Hey man...... love your reviews...... Bro y r u even comparing these 2 movies? both of them are legendary in their own right...... i mean ur talking in this as if you were expecting the 1930's film to be flawless...... the 1930's 1 is a classic and always will be....... the new 1 is way more cooler i agree but respect where respect is due..... :)

  • @tellkhush not at all. In fact i said they are totally different movies. Also that its a bit unfair to knock the old one for Dracula's transformation because the technology wasn't there. None of my reviews are overly serious, just a look at the two films.

  • @HorrorMovieReviewGuy Agreed ..... Im Asuming uve also seen Nosferatu a symphony of terror...... Im more of a classic horror movies fan....... whats ur opinion? could u recommend some good recent horror films? i mean ive seen most of the classics and just today finished downloading The Universal monsters series of movies..... gonna start watching them on thursday........ all of em r from the golden age of classic monsters....

  • @tellkhush I'm not sure what would be in that series, but a well known one for its short screen appearance was "Freaks" from 1932. Its known because it was pulled from theatres so quick. I'll also be doing a review of Nosferatu at some point. New one's? hmm, it's tough because I don't watch what comes out and we don't see much that new these days. I guess " Dog Soldiers" give it a look. I forget the year I think 2008 but not sure.

  • @HorrorMovieReviewGuy basically they are all the movies released by universal like Frankenstein, bride of Frankenstein, the blob etc...... check out the full list on wikipedia....... yeah i saw Dog Soldiers....... really good stuff..... Freaks for some reason i just find funny....... not really as horrifying as u would expect... :P anyways thanks for your input :)
