It's pointless. All of you seem to know everything. And even though I've ridden my whole life and have been to many clinics, taken lessons from many different trainers on every discipline, and been a part of many different associations. I'll never claim to know EVERYTHING. Tell me what you believe I'll listen and be open minded. Seriously people grow up, get over yourselves and learn some respect for others. Don't bash on them just cuz you disagree, these girls know what they're doing.
mouthed?? Maybe she wasn't actually using very much force. Maybe she just wanted him to give him his face and give to the bit. Whips are used to KEEP the horse up to speed because sometimes they'll slack into a barrel or out.. Riders FEEL that and do what they think is necessary. And the smaller Pattern I've found is WAYY harder to time then the big because if you have a bad barrel, getting set up for your next is wayyy harder cuz you have less time. I don't get why people argue on youtube.

The whips aren't unnecessary because the horse doesn't speed up. Horses only run this time because the arena is small. One style of riding is better then the other, blah blah blah. I ride EVERY discipline there is and what I've learned is to NEVER bash someones way of riding unless its just stupid. Maybe the seasawing girls horse is hard
The arena size also matters on what kind of style the horse is some run better inside than outside. These girls made it to the NFR not because of luck but because they know what they are doing! These horses love their job or they wouldn't preform like that!
whats the point of fight which style of riding is better everyone is skilled in there own way i do everything but i find barrel racing a whole lot more fun bc its a thrill and joy bc you feel like your flying bc your going sooo fast ....
@MesoLovesPeople1890 its much harder to run in a small arena than a large, which you would know if you knew anything. Running in an arena this small and getting times like that is hard. The barrels come so quickly and it comes down to pure skill and timing. Which you would know if you knew anything.
@AWillsbarrelracing As someone who does both English and Western (which to me, includes the timed events such as barrel racing) - They both require a lot of skill. Why people argue on youtube is beyond me... You're both going to continue thinking you "know everything." Be more open minded about both sports... You can't argue with opinions...

@AWillsbarrelracing the horses can see the jumps acctually. A horses blind spots are the front of there faces. A horse can see side to side and some front vision. They can see the jumps, and there not abusive. Name something thats abusive. I do both and none of my english friends abuse there horses.
a u can see the horses luv what they are doing just look at there ears they are pricked right forward bc this is there job and they love to do it!! I LOVE BARREL RACING

A horses like these's mouths are very responsive, as are the rest of their bodies... Yet that doesn't mean the horses don't get on the muscle while in the chute.
@ReinaEquina: That horse was not 'just standing there'. The horse was being defiant and not moving forward, he had his head straight up in the air and was tensed up. And don't even try to say he was tense because she was jerking on his mouth. When horses put their head straight up like that, they are clenching onto the bit like something fierce and can't hardly feel anything because of it. Are there better ways of handling it? Yes. But she was not being harmful or cruel.
@xXAmyAndTriggerXx umm...i agree with reinaequina on that..but..the whips?...come on?..rele?..they ARE needed and these girls dont beat the absolute crap out of their horses..they just HAVE to get em going at a fast pace so that their time is good to win!
@mmh19997 Notice how the horses dont speed up when the riders use their whips. They're going top speed already, the horses dont need all of that whipping as it has little or no effect...
@StormyNola What are you talking about? Im talking about the clip at 4:15 where the horse is standing there and the lady is seesawing the heck out of the horses mouth! Not during a run! Just standing there!
It just amazes me how much those horses want to run!
