  • i think he has a kingdom. because he's king of the banjo. your mother must be so prod on you

  • what the hell! you are like edward van helgen of monkey island 3!

  • Nice job.But bg'ers tryin to stear you toward picks, toward the bridge, toward a resonator, toward a plastic head, toward etc, etc, etc?Great what you did with it - no picks & at the neck joint! Don't spoze they'd want to really, truly sound 'Pre-War' anyway. And don't let them tell you,"If it ain't Mastertone it ain't S##T!" That's a damn good sounding banjo.Probably skin head'n spunover rim? That oughta frighten them bluegrassers outa their heads - no plastic head! BTW, interested in sellin the thing?

  • i play bass and im thinking of learning banjo, are there any brands that i should be looking at buying?

  • I liked this so much! I hope you still play-you should!

  • this song really hard or as he was supposed to say im really hard"

  • YOUR FUCKING BETTER THAN ME!!!! I'm mostly a death metal player....i usually use 7 string guitars....but i got a banjo from my grandfather, and ive been messing around with it...AND I FUCKING SUCK!!!!!

  • I had one 4 Christmas!!!!!

  • i want a banjo for my birthday

  • You are absolutely awesome.

  • maybe you like the tone of that banjo but you could do with a better one, but not a particularly hard tune, but i would say as far as traditional fingerpicking goes, its on the complicated side.

  • why did u quit?

  • how long did it take you to learn that?

  • wtf got u into a banjo? why not guitar or bass? something to shred on with a rock 'n roll state of mind?

  • good job.....pick on.

  • how much did your banjo cost? i really want to play since i seen nowhere boy.

  • anyone know where can I hear the original version of this?? the only versions i can find are sad covers

  • Forget about the mattresses what about his name nobody wjo plays the banjo is "swag"

  • what up with the mattresses in the background

  • @WTFyouDAMF

To dampen the sound. Basically ghetto sound proofing

  • @afilovah nice!!!!!!

  • nice little tune id give it a try myself

    got any tab?

  • Not very good!

  • oh wow your are the best banjo player in the world

    good luck with that title

  • Comment removed

  • I started with fingers and after trying picks I had no feeling. I hated making the change, but after I finally got used to picks, I'd swear I can feel right through them and have better control now than without picks. They also sound so much better. I'd suggest you learn to use them. You'll be happy you did. Good luck

  • Dude, a better quality banjo would make things better for sure!

  • Nice!

  • Sounds like Bill Keith's Opus 57 in G minor.

  • I once told my dentist I'd give a bunch of money and my eye teeth if I could play banjo like you do on the vid.

Well, the dentist took all my money and ALL my teeth, but I still can't play the banjo.

Sorry to hear you don't play banjo anymore. I played bass 50+ yrs ago but gave it up. Now, I'm 73 and learning to play bass again. I hope you don't give up the banjo completely.

  • AWSOME!!

  • What kind of rolls do you use ?

  • GO WHITE BOY GO!!!!

  • gotta learn how to use finger picks man..

  • Dude.. slow down. and play it over and over again. Great piece just slow it down and increase the tempo until its clean.

  • wooooooooooooooooow =D awesome!!

  • Yha know I'll be fuckn impressed if you can do that song without switching to the top! Other than that great! So far the only banjo player that uses the three finger lick!! Nice job!!!

  • well done

  • Haha! the honesty in his face...just the expression, priceless xD

  • thats freaking awsome!!! I want to play that good!

  • Just had a banjogasm

  • I'm buying and a banjo and have some beginning experience with an acoustic guitar...

Do you think that will give me any help when I try to learn the banjo?

  • Yes.

  • yes, because must banjos you have to use rolls, and if you can do those then you can start out decent

  • The discriptions to this video are so schitzophrenic ...awesome banjo solo but its not really awesome u were just being sarcastic but thanx to everyone who liked the video who didnt get this was actually sarcastic but its not really sarcastic because its a really difficult song to play but u played it after not much practice.......... and u gave up banjo playing

  • freaking awesome

  • Man, I play guitar, but knowing that banjo is the most difficult string instrument to play, I gotta admit that you are pretty damn good

  • Most difficult? Matter of opinion. Personally, violin is much, much harder.

  • @Jwag64 Depends what kind of string instrument. With a bow, i agree, but i'd say banjo probably takes it for plucked-only string instruments.

  • @Jwag64 I play violin, piano, guitar, bass, and banjo. Banjo if BY FAR the hardest.

  • @JamesWilliamson82 I play guitar as well, tried out my buddies banjo, very tough to get used to, even then, still tricky.

  • @JamesWilliamson82 How about pedal steel??

  • @JamesWilliamson82

What do you mean by play guitar? that's a pretty broad term to begin with. Classical guitar easily requires the same dexterity as banjo. So don't go saying "the most difficult". Find a video of "asturias" on classical if you don't know that piece.

  • @JamesWilliamson82 Yes violin is the most difficult imho

  • Lee Marcus has tabs for it...and it sounds awesome, great playing, maybe with picks it would sound even better :-)

  • wow your realy good, this vid inspired me and probaly lots of other viewers to learn this instrument

  • EPIC GOOD

  • Fine banjo playing, Young Friend! Keep up the great work!!

  • "This songs really hard." lol.......nice job playing though. 5/5

  • You did such an AMAZING job on it!

    Way to go!

    Banjoistically yours,

    Jon Eric

  • where can I find some tab for that solo?

  • it sounds like you don't have banjo picks, but still very well done.

  • this is epic very very well done

  • kool

  • cool man, but it would even sound better with fingerpicks!

  • dude... that was skilled redneckness jk :P but seriosly thats awsome

  • Thanks for sharing that with us, Jwag64; don't let the critics discourage you-most of them probably can't play what you can. I'm just starting out, and I don't know if I'll ever be able to play as well as you...keep up the good work!!! Nice!

  • very good, im learning, i like how you add that high slide ;) youre adding to the indy/banjo culture

  • Whoa, dude, that was insane!

    You are totally awesome!

I am learning to play the banjo and you have totally inspired me!

Keep playing! Especially when people tell us that the banjo is only for hicks and old people. I hate that.

    Seriously, you rock!

  • whats the deal with the overhand slide?

  • It just looks cool. I'm not really that good at banjo, so you know. Gotta add some, er, pizazz?

  • ahhh, ok, i had just never seen it done before and was just wondering, because Im not so good eitherlol

  • thats peretty nice, if iw ere you, id consider picks and play closer to the bridge

  • very nice

  • Its not loud enough and there some minor issues with your energy level- the timing is inconsistent

  • Not bad man, sounds pretty good!

I like the intro, "This song's really hard."

    ha ha.

  • shut your mouth

  • noob

  • start playing with picks it will be a lot louder

  • It sounds like a minor version of Old Joe Clark, I realize there are no original melodies left...first run sounds like a Bobby Thompson special from Hee Haw...Keith also played that style

  • It sounds like a minor vision of "Old Joe Clark" and the opening is a kind of quasi chromatic run that Bobby Thompson was famous for in his Hee Haw Theme rendition. Banjo is tuned to G minor....Bill Keith also had a similar style...

  • aprilml83 youd be surprised at how many like the banjo

  • Sounds like a "Seldom Scene" tune, but I can't place it. Anyone know it?

  • Yeah, this is "As Played by Ben Eldridge" version of Appalachian Train, with some overhand liberties to spice things up

  • lol, yeah, I think I did a good job despite not really playing the banjo on a regular basis. I practice it for whenever I have to play something, and that's about it.

  • i thought wen u said it was hard it was a clever ruse and then u would play it amazingly- but good job anyway

  • I bet you you get alot of girls with that banjo Ha Ha

  • at least he does things other than surf around on youtube all day. Am-I-right?!
