EXCELLENT FIND!!!!! I don't believe I've seen a Downing bowl, but I have seen the exact tank used with the Kohler TRENT bowls. It is great to see people finding and recording these fine old toilets before they disappear from the face of the earth.
Kohler toilets used to just put the model name of the toilet on the toilet, not the Kohler name. So you will often see an older Kohler that says DOWNING or ANGLEBORO, etc. on it. Fantastic find!
You guy are lucky that the bathrooms in you area still have the original fixtures in them. Almost every old bathroom I go to always have modern fixtures in them.
This model appears to date from 1939 to 1948, and is model #K-3840-EB (12" rough in) or #K-3841-EB (14" rough in). The bowl itself, whether for tank or flushometer operation, was sold separately as model #K-4290-ET (12" rough in) or #K-4291-ET (14" rough in).
Thanks for the nice comments MrBrombomb. I liked this toilet alot. I regret not getting a tank shot, but the lid was cracked and I was afraid of breaking it. Still way cool!
I had a chance to buy a simular one of these models in excellent condition for only $50..... I blew it... The lever and bowl was different though...

@01398ify Where did you hear that? And he did film the Sibley toilet, but VintageToiletsRock does not have that video.

Now what is a vortex jet? Is that the little hole in the drain?

@Vercus100 Yes.

Wow! Nice find! This is a rare toilet that is in perfect condition. Unlike the flushometer version, I noticed that this one has a vortex jet.
