@thinkofmusic - nicely put! I kind of wish that I'd heard Neu! while they were still working, but I was at junior school when this came out. Like most Brits of my generation, I came across "Krautrock" (horrid, horrid, term!) in the '90s when everyone worth listening to would cite Neu! as an influence. The more I discovered German music of that era, the more I realised that that's what I'd always been listening to - Eno, Floyd, Hawkwind - they'd all heard/met Neu!, Cluster, Can, Kraftwerk ..

@Molesworth2K I wish so badly that I had been around at the time of Neu! Unfortunately for me I am a young American, needless to say i was born in the wrong place at the wrong time. When I finally heard Neu! I also clearly saw the mark they had left on the bands I loved already.

IMHO you've no soul or taste mate ... Neu didn't write music with a view to achieving fame or fortune ... rather they pushed the definition and boundaries of 'music' to the limit of technology then.  This work really has stood the test of time ... and remains remarkably fresh and timeless

I actually consider neu! 75 to be the weakest of the three (nevertheless, it's a masterpiece). It is very beautiful and probably easiest to listen to, and Hero is perfect. But it lacks much of the guts evident in their other two albums
