  • How come you don't lie your plane down on its side at 3:05?

  • That is a great bench!

  • Norm Abram's brother isn't bad either.

  • What no. is that plane you're using?

  • Are you sure this isn't a video about your planes?

  • Nice music. Chega de Saudade. Nice bench.

  • Not only is the bench amazing, the craftsman's skills are quite aparent.

  • That's some fine planin' there.

  • That's fantastic. Thanks for putting that up.

I've had a look at your website but can't find any details of the removable (and movable) leg vice at 4.27.

Do you have construction details for this?

    Many thanks.

  • Thanks! I made this bench in 2008.

The top is attached to the base with drawbored mortise and tenon. If you mean "rising" dovetail, I didn't want the end grain of the legs protruding above my bench top during changes in seasonal conditions. Roy Underhill built a nice little Roubo with rising dovetails last year on The Woodwright's Shop, which was fun to watch. But Roubo's bench from plate 11 uses a double tenon, not a rising dovetail. I like that joint, but I'm also not as brave as Roy. ;-)

  • @Benchcrafted thanks a lot for answering to me, very kind of you. You score with that words, end grain above the bench top is not the best way

    so long mate

  • WHERE IS THE RINSING DOVETAIL FRONT LEGS ?

DOES ANYBODY KNOWS WHAT RISING JOINT IS ?

    CHECK OUT MY CHANNEL

    GOOD DEMONSTRATION MATE !

    THANKS

  • What a pleasure to watch. Was the bench purchased or made?

  • Watching somebody planing is a heck of a lot more interesting that watching somebody sanding.

  • Very very nice!

I did not really think that sliding leg vice was that great, I mean a sliding deadman with a hold fast could do the same work, or close to it, then I saw the long board held between the two leg vices at about 6:30 and I now see why you would want to go to the extra effort of making the sliding leg vice.

Super nice bench, and certainly a fun video to watch, thanks!
