Regarding learning from others, you can tell that when Frederick was a little guy, he must have watched Mr. Rogers'Neighborhood.See what he learned from listening to Johnny Costa (the pianist for the show). Listen just after Ann sings "the whistles are blowin'" Frederick plays those high chords that sound like what Costa used to play when the toy train appeared in the Rogers show. I can't tell you how much I've learned from watching these pianists on your videos. Thanks DK
Thanks for watching and thanks for your nice comments. Yup, this pair performs musical magic together.
I love it when folks leave a new comment on one of these that has been posted for a while, as it causes me to revisit the video and I get to listen again! Such Delicious music!
Today Wednesday 15 October 2008 let us not forget to celebrate the Happy 150th Birthday of The Boston Strong Boy ~ JOHN L SULLIVAN! ... Let every luck that lightens Life alight upon Himself ~~~ SLAINTE!
I love Billy Murray singing this tune, his voice is such a natural for it but I couldn't watch your video without commenting that this beautiful woman Ann Gibson has it ALL GOIN' ON and does a FABULOUS job on the L. Wolfe Gilbert chestnut! Also...that cat pounding the 88's could give Perfessor Bill a lesson! Excellent post tdub1941
Actually, they can give each other lessons, as they all tend to learn so much from each other as the years go by. It seems that each performer tends to have their own specialties that they do better than anyone else, and this is true of Frederick Hodges, Perfessor Bill, Ann Gibson and many others!

I never heard her before. I've spent the last few days listening to her constantly. She's a great singer with a big voice, and a real feel for the music; a real entertainer. I have joined the shuffling throng of guys that are madly in love with her.
You nailed it! Ann is everybody's pal and/or girl friend! She is rock solid on all of these great old tunes that she performs. I first saw her perform at the WCRF of 2006, so when I returned in 2007 I was excited that she allowed me to do these videos of her so that I could post them here on YouTube. I sent you a Friend Request so that you don't have to get approval on the comments you leave on any of the videos I have on my RagJazzMonkey channel.

This is my second favorite song now, after your Ragtime Cowboy Joe. I incorporated the lyrics in my book also. (My first wife was from Alabama.)

I wanna hear (and see) Ann & Frederick perform the George Frederic Root 1862 classic "The Battle Cry Of Freedom" let's just call it a screen test...
