  • I still have grave concerns over this and wonder how much of this is to tickle our ears, as what happened with the Nixon administration.

    I hear a lot of "affordable health care" but I am not hearing about FREE health care for those too sick to work, our poor and our elderly.

    In WA if you have children you can have medical if you're low income, but what about those young people on their own, what about those on the streets?

  • Hey jackball. NOTHING is free. Somebody is paying for it.. what you think government will just pay for it? Government has no money until they TAKE money from you..taxes.

    Medicare is for those who are very poor and elderly that cannot afford insurance.. THAT is their "free" healthcare. States have their own forms of this too.

    Wa went deep in debt because of their "free" healthcare.

    Hawaii had to limit theirs because of debt.

    Same thing in Tennessee with Tenn care. bankrupting the state

  • Looks like a decent beginning after all. We can't expect it to solve all our problems at once- our government doesn't work that way at present- but this gives us a good starting point. I remain cautiously hopeful.

  • Hey StartLoving- I keep hearing this, but in practise, it is not the case. WE the sheeple are NOT the government- not by a long shot! A bunch of bloated, self-interested millionaires are in control of every aspect of our government, and it's long overdue that we wake up to this reality. We have very little control or authority over anything, that's just how it is at this moment.

    Could we change it? Possibly, but that's a different conversation.

  • The government already runs healthcare more efficiently than the private sector- where have you been? They run Medicare, Medicaid, the VA- not to mention the fucking post office! Let's see Fed Ex deliver a letter for fifty cents!

  • Really? you are joking right? These establishments are the exact argument I would use against government healthcare.

    The post office loses money hand over fist. Just going there, you realize they can pretty much care less at what pace things are done, they get paid regardless and it is impossible to fire them. DMV sucks, VA is ok..but you never hear that it is very good. Medicaid? BROKE- constant fraud happens here too.

    So where is your proof that big brother can run things efficiently?

  • No robust public obtion, no medicare buy-in, and a mandate to buy insurance = insurance companies' wet dream.

    Though this is the first healthcare reform in 40+ years, it is a weak and watered-down version that will be the talking point for many of these obstructionist conservatives.

    LIFE is a protected and sacred trust in this nation, stop being such a toad. While the DOI is not the Constitution, it IS a founding document.

  • NO a person is NOT entitled to health insurance in the Constitution... Have you READ the Constitution? You can get free med care at county hospitals and every hospital has to treat you, regardless of insurance, if you are critically injured.

    This is HEALTH INSURANCE not health care.. No one is entitled to this by government. It is up to an individual what kind of health insurance, how much and if any is wanted.

    If you are Bill Gates and can afford any treatment, why force health care on him?

  • I believe it comes from creating that exchange he's talking about. People will get subsidies to buy the insurance that's mandated upon them from different vendors, just like a kiosk in a mall that makes you buy stuff.
