OHHHHH Yeeeeah! They had stage preformances!!! Im still having nightmares of the creepy robotics characers they had on stage! LOL If I remember right, the Pedo Bear was the main act! LOLOL
@SolutionsCodedSMB Thanks man! I really appreciate the comment! And you hit the nail right on the head bro! "Wall to wall video games" EXACTLY! Now there is a big buliding with about 20 games including ticket games. I miss the 90's lol...Thanks again for the comment man! And thats awesome that you know the exact place i'm talking about!
i used to goto the wonderland next to washington square, which is near tigard,, and then there was a water park next to it, i think, it was awsome, like a 1.50 to get in, and then all games where a nickle, there are still 3 or 4 wonderlands around portland,,
@TheDVDGamer Yeah man! Wunderland use to be the shit back then. Now its shit lol. I didnt know they had that many in the Portland area. I wonder if they are the same inside
A NICKLE?! Holy shit is that cheap lol. The place where I went took so much quarters. Only a few arcade machines took 1 quarter like tmnt2, x men and the simpsons, but those arcade games were there and gone. I wish they kept them.
@shockerdrone911 Yeah dude, only a nickel! And some even free. It was so much fuckin fun back then. I really wish that place didnt grow with the up and coming generations lol. But i guess its understandable. Oh the memories lol
It's a shame that arcade games are dying. Going to arcades were just as much about the experience as they were about playing the actual games. I remember playing the simpsons and TMNT arcade games every time I went to Chuck E. Cheeses and I remember me and my brother beat the Jurassic Park light gun game once. It took a lo of quarters. At first the other kids were mad we were hogging the machine, but once we got towards the end we had a crowd and they were all excited.
@SuperBeardedGamer I agree, i cant stand that the idea of an arcade machine is a claw machince. I use to have so much fun playing these arcade games but nowhere to do that now. I never played Jurassic Park but it sounds like its fun.
@ballinnick1982 Yeah, I'm starting to feel like I might have to turn to emulators to play a lot of the arcade games I used to play. And yeah the jurassic park game was fun. There are a few light gun jurassic park games I think. But I'm talking about the one from the 90's.
@jalapalois1 Thanks man! Yeah there werent many arcades to choose from here either. Only two but one literally shut down and the other one (That i talked about) just aint the same. Other than that all we had were pizza joints lol
I'll definitely have to do a response to this. Great topic and stories Nick. It's sad how fast everything has changed and when things do change such as you said and it's not for the better all we can do is appreciate the memories those places left us with.
@Tom360degrees Looking forward to the response bro! Thanks for the comment! Yeah the memories is all i have left as far as arcades but definately fun times! Again, cant wait for the response man!
I got a story! An arcade knocked my first tooth out when I was a kid! LOL I was running through Showbiz Pizza now ChuckeCheese and BAMM!!! Ran right into a pinball machine and busted my tooth out! HAHA maybe not the story u were looking for : ). No, where I live we only have the corperate arcades. Celebration Station, ChuckeCheese and Increadible Pizza. Ur right, arcades were alot cooler when I was younger but I just dont have really any good arcades around me. Great vid!
@PWheat23 LOL Thats awesome and funnt! Never knocked a tooth out at an arcade...I remember Showbiz in St. Louis, MO and that place was awseome. Didnt they have like stage performances and stuff? I think i've only been there a couple times but i remember it being a lot of fun
Great video, bro! Holy crap, I've never been to an arcade where you got to play free games! I would have loved to have gone there.
I have fond memories playing in the arcades, especially Street Fighter II. Once when I was a kid, I played the TMNT arcade machine. I was on a roll and made it to the third level solo by myself. There were 3 adult 20-something guys gathered around watching me, and when I finally died, one of them said "I'm impressed". I thought it was the coolest thing at the time.
@JodeciMudvayne Thanks bro! Much appreciated! Dude this place was awesome as a kid being able to play free games. Ran out of money, no problem! lol...TMNT the arcade game is one of my biggest memories. Playing it at that pizza place was so much fun!...Thats an intense story having all those people gathered around you whuile playing TMNT! That would be a great video story!
Great stuff man! I just posted a 2 part pickups video on my channel. Check it out when you have a moment--I'd be honored:) Thanks man and again, I love the channel!
Haha, I actually made a video about this not too long ago, so I'll post it as a video response :)
Really interesting video, bro. And yes, it's very unfortunate how the arcades have evolved over the years. And sadly, like you said, if arcades today were't stocked full of machines that spit out tickets then there would be a MUCH smaller demographic of people going to them :( It was awesome to hear about some of your favorites!
@HouseofSkeletons I agree, even Chuck E Cheese was fun back then. The one I went to a couple years ago with the girl i was seeing at the time and her daughter was just complete garbage. And Chuck E Cheese was a F-ing jerk too
@ChinoGaming20 Oh do i lol...Thats about when i started getting into basketball. The one that hurts the most is the 2000 (I think) Western Conference Finals against the Lakers...Ahead by 15 in the 4th quarter and just blew it like that! Bad times lol
lol I remember all the 90's brands like mossimo and no fear and stussy. Hey, thanks for the mention. Yeah that arcade was in a small town bowling alley where I used to spend my summer vacations. It was still there but it might as well have been abandoned because everything was unplugged, but the town it's in is kinda dying anyway, nobody was bowling either. As for arcades where I live, the good one shut down in the late 90's, theres still a Tilt in the mall but it's much smaller now.
@RyanRightN0w Arcades don't really exist as their own business anymore. The only places you see arcade games are in restaurants, bars, bowling alleys, and amusement parks. Technology has gotten to a point where Arcade games aren't very economical because everyone has portable video games in their pocket on their cell phones.
@RyanRightN0w Hey no problem man! Big fan of your channel too!...I'm gonna have to go back and watch that video you made revisting the bowling alley. That was a great video!...And your totally right about that, aracdes are all major corp. busineses now and its all about having "Whats in now"...And you bring up a good point about everyone having games on there cell phones and portables. Its like, thats all they know and its just the way this generation is and its really sad in my opinion
When I was younger I used to live real close to Portland and used to hit up an arcade called Games People Play all the time. That place was amazing, it was like 5 bucks or whatever and all the games were set to free play.
@bobafettjm I remember seeing commercials for Games People Play ALL THE TIME lol. I dont know if they had one in Salem but i dont think so. At least i never been there. Thats a great deal, 5 bucks to play whatever you want? I would have been begging my parents to go there all the time if i knew that lol
Another game I spent a shit ton of munny and time is Initial-D Ver1,2,3.
I spent so much munny on this game and the game was addicting!!! I didn't know what "Initial-D" was all about before I played this game! I was @ the arcade one day and I heard these upbeat music, these cool songs. Then I saw these asian guys playing an racing game! I got into the game cuz the music was so cool!!! I don't even see an arcade near my area, I know there is one arcade in my province but its so FAR AWAY~ >.<
When I went to the arcade back in the days, I remember everybody were into competitions...
Everybody wanted to win, cause they get a free game if they do win. I remember playing Marvel VS Capcom 2 @ the arcade so much, this guy got pissed off @ my Cable and it was fucking hilarious. He had to spend over $5 to beat me @ that time, I kinda gave it to him though, I didn't want to play him anymore and it was so boring playing the same person with the same tactics...
dave n busters is the only place like that with arcade games but even that place has dance games and gimmicks games near me there used to be an arcade called google at my mall i cant remember everything they had there but i remember playing pinball and soul calibur 2 arcade everytime i went
Arcades nowadays are all gimmicky. I work at Dave and Busters and all the games are huge and all motion sense. there are no fighters or beat'em ups. Its all about winning tickets and getting the best prizes there. They only keep games that make money so all the old skool games had to go. SMH. DDR is wack. Tons of people play that garbage.
@28steryan LOL thanks man! Much appreciated...And dont worry, I probably understand your humor more than most people believe it or not. I'm a sick fuck as well. Thats why i always look forward to your comments lol
