I have always seen Bali as having that certain old malay element you find in Borneo- discerning it from Java which was heavily influenced and infiltrated by the policy of Indianisation. When I look upon Bali, I see an element to it that still seems to resonate from that of primitivism. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Which filipino language? The way this is spelled, I'd guess Ilokano... "Batel" in Balinese refers to a scene with intense fighting, so who knows if there's a connection...

It features some very complex "batel"-style drumming. Think of this as the Balinese soap opera of long ago being perfomed today.
