Jean as the original Marvel Girl may have been inhibited b/c of her inexperience. However, despite initially seeming to be overwhelmingly powerful, Emma Frost never really could match the Phoenix or for that matter Ms. Grey/Summers, once she'd mastered her powers.

Besides, when Jean is merged with the Phoenix, Jean is in control of it. Emma tried to merge with the Phoenix and Emma just burned up. Emma couldn't handle it and Jean had to come and save her. Jean's telepathy even rivals that of Professor Xavier's.
personally I think Jean could whoop Emma's behind since she is an omega level and obviously more powerful. I'm honestly sick of Emma and Scott. Well in X-Men First Class series Xavier mentioned that Jean has the potential of being the most powerful telepath,more powerful than even him.And that was BEFORE she came in contact with the Phoenix Force.

Its not really a fare comparison. The Phoenix is an abstract entity like Death or Oblivion, it takes a host and grants them more power.

Jean and the Phoenix are not one and the same thing, that was retconned decades ago. The Phoenix is the embodyment of all sentient thought in the universe and life yet to be born, it has also possesed others in the comics. the biggest name being Rachel Summers (the daughter of Jean and Scott from an alternate future), and even a guy once was the host.

Telekinesis isn't like the elemental-kinesis, its not bonding with something to control it. Telekinesis produces psycho-force which envelops objects to move them. Its not direct control of matter. You may be confusing telekinesis with particle control or what that X-men 3 movie tried to make it look like, which was way off.

Jean as the top dog mutant, well Scarlet Witch can alter reality but is lacking alot in direct physical offensive powers but could learn them. There is also one mutant that has become forgotten over the years (Alpha the ultimate mutant), a mutant who became so powerful he ascended and left the Earth for parts unknown. I think amongst the thousands of characters they have Marvel might have forgotten about him.

@XxXLyX Jean removed Emma diamond form in the X men "What If" issue when jean was still alive and Emma took the Phoenix shards out the diamond hearts of the Stepfords with the help of Cassandra Nova and became the Phoenix herself. And its seems to me that when Emma took the professer down... it was kinda a cheap shot, but I agree that she might have done it becasue she did keep him and the other Xmen as prisoner before. But she would not be able to take him or on in a true mental battle

It was in the comic Astonishing X-Men : What If. The comic was basicly about what if Jean died and came back instead of Colossis (It was an event called Breakworld). Anyway to make a long story short Emma got a hod of the and tried to attack the X Men. She was using the Phoenix while in diamond form and Jean flew right up to her and channeled her telepathy into her hands. She touched Emma's head with her finger and Emma's diamond form began to fade away.

I forget where I read it but it caused me to research 'Omega level mutant.' I flutter in and out of the Marvel universe because sometimes it does become exaspirating. In my opinion, I liked the X-men years before I was even born through the 80s and into the early 90's. But I did read it on something of Marvel's.
Did you know they used to make Marvel 'What If...' and there was an issue where Phoenix took Storm and not Jean? That was a wild episode.
I start searching too and in her biography says that the Sentinels identify Storm as a possible Omega-level mutant 'cause can control the temperature of the environment, control all forms of precipitation, humidity and moisture at a molecular level... So i think 'Ro is an Omega ;)

Lucky, then, for her opponents, that she is so respectful of life that she refuses to kill, even in self-defense. Another great issue on Storm that tormented her in the old X-men. She tried to save an opponent who fell into a volcano and was haunted by being unable to save him, only to find he was alive, fused with lava, and quite bitter about his condition and challenging her alone while Kitty was trapped in a lava pool and Pioter was frozen when Storm froze the cavern to stop the lava flow.
Storm was only recently placed in the omega status but she is probably one of the most powerful beings...she is also one of the few marvel characters that can actually host the cosmic being 'eternity' due to her will strength.
not only that..she has magical potential which spells trouble for psychics...so the real question would be...
here's where consistency comes into play with the writers...numerous times it has been said storm (much like rogue) have virtually hard minds to read/attack...storm with her electric inference and will and rogue with her complex matrix build).
at times writers ignore this or embrace this.
also, telepaths have a hard time keeping up with non psy opponents if they fuse thought and action into one which storm can easily do

As far as raw power in telepathy is concerned, Jean has more because of the Phoenix Force, without it, she would be around the same level as Emma. However, Emma has more skill and training in telepathy, much more than Jean could hope to achieve.
i read a few years ago that jean became an omega level mutant because of her telepathy not her telekinesis in the x-men forever comics along with iceman. at that time jean didn't have the phoenix force, it was because jean and psylocke traded powers thats when jean became an omega telepath because she had her own psy powers + psylocke's powers and she was second to prof x in power and skill. Emma is powerful too but she doesnt reach the same level even without the phoenix.

You are correct. Jean is an Omega level mutant without the Phoenix force. The Phoenix and Dark Phoenix knew how to use Jean's power to the full extent but it was still limited by human limitations. It really just allows her power over life and death and to fly in space unaided. That's it. And as Emma said, "It was like I was completely defenseless" after a psychic battle with Jean and if I recall correctly, she wasn't linked with Phoenix at the time.
Personally, I prefer Emma over Jean. But Jean is the more powerful between these two, and just with the fact of the Phoenix Force, otherwise I think they'd be pretty evenly matched. Because most Telepath's in X-men are. They are the stronger characters.

Its not really a fare comparison. The Phoenix is an abstract entity like Death or Oblivion, it takes a host and grants them more power.
Emma Frost never had that (Also Emma Frost isn't a new character, but she sure looks younger than her original apperances back in the day as the White Queen).

Jean and the Phoenix are not one and the same thing, that was retconned decades ago. The Phoenix is the embodyment of all sentient thought in the universe and life yet to be born, it has also possesed others in the comics. the biggest name being Rachel Summers (the daughter of Jean and Scott from an alternate future), and even a guy once was the host.

@TheRhuen that's true but the phoenix never bonded more closely with an individual than it did with jean grey; none of the other Phoenix manifestations could manipulate or wield the power of the phoenix force to the extent that jean could which is why the phoenix force continued to revive her and in a sense they were the same at one stage because in the original storyline phoenix created a duplicate body of grey to reside in with a portion of jean's consciousness to give the body life

Telekinesis isn't like the elemental-kinesis, its not bonding with something to control it. Telekinesis produces psycho-force which envelops objects to move them. Its not direct control of matter. You may be confusing telekinesis with particle control or what that X-men 3 movie tried to make it look like, which was way off.

There is also one mutant that has become forgotten over the years (Alpha the ultimate mutant), a mutant who became so powerful he ascended and left the Earth for parts unknown. While Emma is an extremly powerfull telepath, there are only 2 telepaths that she cant bet, The Prof. X and Jean. Jean is an Omega lvl mutant whos telepathic powers can rival that of Xavier. Not to mention her telekenetic powers. I have seen Jean remove Emmas diamond for with the touch of a finger and that was without the Phoenix. With the Phoenix Jean is on a different lvl. @XxXLyX Jean removed Emma diamond form in the X men "What If" issue when jean was still alive and Emma took the Phoenix shards out the diamond hearts of the Stepfords with the help of Cassandra Nova and became the Phoenix herself. And its seems to me that when Emma took the professer down... it was kinda a cheap shot, but I agree that she might have done it becasue she did keep him and the other Xmen as prisoner before. But she would not be able to take him or on in a true mental battle

It was in the comic Astonishing X-Men : What If. The comic was basicly about what if Jean died and came back instead of Colossis (It was an event called Breakworld). Anyway to make a long story short Emma got a hod of the and tried to attack the X Men. She was using the Phoenix while in diamond form and Jean flew right up to her and channeled her telepathy into her hands. She touched Emma's head with her finger and Emma's diamond form began to fade away.

Well remember, the world of Wolverine and the X-men isn't the world of the X-men movies or the world of the Uncanny X-men. Similar elements. I think they're are only like two X-men who ever died and have stayed dead so I bet you she will be back. Though if she doesn't come back, I will say that that heightened her sacrifice at the end of the season.
Yes, in the comics, when Emma shattered in her diamond form, it was Jean who used her psychokenesis to put Emma back together so I guess we can't rule that out.

Emma was there for him the whole time jean was gone. And when she first joined the x-men scott was the only one who made her feel welcome and not an outsider.

I believe Storm was finally identified as an Omega Level Mutant. But you're right about Jean, the most powerful human (and mutant) mind ever. The Phoenix force didn't give her much more power that she already didn't have. Just took years for her own mind to be able to comprehend her own power and utilize it. It seems like Jean is really only limited by her own imagination. Who can compete with that? Sexy, smart, powerful. Jean is where it is at!

I forget where I read it but it caused me to research 'Omega level mutant.' I flutter in and out of the Marvel universe because sometimes it does become exaspirating. In my opinion, I liked the X-men years before I was even born through the 80s and into the early 90's. But I did read it on something of Marvel's.
Did you know they used to make Marvel 'What If...' and there was an issue where Phoenix took Storm and not Jean? That was a wild episode.

I start searching too and in her biography says that the Sentinels identify Storm as a possible Omega-level mutant 'cause can control the temperature of the environment, control all forms of precipitation, humidity and moisture at a molecular level... So i think 'Ro is an Omega ;)

Well she called herself Stormphoenix and was completely overtaken by the Dark Phoenix aspect and became ruler of Earth. Anyone who opposed her was frozen by her and she eventually died.

Lucky, then, for her opponents, that she is so respectful of life that she refuses to kill, even in self-defense. Another great issue on Storm that tormented her in the old X-men. She tried to save an opponent who fell into a volcano and was haunted by being unable to save him, only to find he was alive, fused with lava, and quite bitter about his condition and challenging her alone while Kitty was trapped in a lava pool and Pioter was frozen when Storm froze the cavern to stop the lava flow.

Storm was only recently placed in the omega status but she is probably one of the most powerful beings...she is also one of the few marvel characters that can actually host the cosmic being 'eternity' due to her will strength.
not only that..she has magical potential which spells trouble for psychics...so the real question would be...

here's where consistency comes into play with the writers...numerous times it has been said storm (much like rogue) have virtually hard minds to read/attack...storm with her electric inference and will and rogue with her complex matrix build).
at times writers ignore this or embrace this.
also, telepaths have a hard time keeping up with non psy opponents if they fuse thought and action into one which storm can easily do

I'd still say jean. and thank u for mentiong about storm being omega level. I was wondering that for quite some time. Jean can ressrect herslef even after death and it moved her powers up to cosmic like status if u can tell me about the being "eternity" and what storm would get from that maybe we can make a comparison. But then again Jean isa physic unless ur a phsyic urself you couldn't get near her if she si reading or "changing ur mind" about things.

eternity is the abstract representation of the universe. his power is 2nd to very few cosmic beings in the marvel universe. in short, no eternity=no universe
as i said before, storm has magical potential which proves a major issue for psychics. not only that, the electrical energies she harness creates a natural barrier that telepaths like xavier to overcome
also, u should read uncanny x-men 147 when storm's power was escalated beyond comprehension with no aid of a cosmic being

@foreverbbyily -- emma classified herself as omega and then followed by prof X but really...she even said in the warsong phoenix saga she was not capable of handling the phoenix force which only an omega can...the writers are getting out of hand when it's coming to 'escape goating' their story plots and loop holes.
Emma is a world class psi but always lost battles to jean b/c jean was overly trained by prof X and has more raw power.
Emma is a great character but Jean outclasses her

i think the best recent (well not so recent) story arc was when joss weldon too the helm but even he didn't do his x-men research as there were lots of loop holes in this stories.
but i guess we can't always expect everyone know to know every small details of the x-men

Jean is an omega-level mutant, Emma is not.
Jean is now the Phoenix. Jean is Phoenix, Phoenix is Jean. Same being. Even if she wasn't Phoenix she would still be omega-level mutant.
Jean's telepathy is more powerful than Emma's (duh!)
Scott really chose Jean and wanted her not Emma. However a bad future happened as Scott wouldn't rejoin the X-Men as he loved Jean to much, so Jean made him pick Emma instead. So he is being mindcontrolled to pick Emma.

if we're talking about Phoenix vs Emma Frost, there is no doubt that Phoenix would be the winner.
However, if we're talking about Jean Grey (minus Phoenix) vs Emma Frost, then Emma Frost takes the cake.
As far as raw power in telepathy is concerned, Jean has more because of the Phoenix Force, without it, she would be around the same level as Emma. However, Emma has more skill and training in telepathy, much more than Jean could hope to achieve.

i read a few years ago that jean became an omega level mutant because of her telepathy not her telekinesis in the x-men forever comics along with iceman. at that time jean didn't have the phoenix force, it was because jean and psylocke traded powers thats when jean became an omega telepath because she had her own psy powers + psylocke's powers and she was second to prof x in power and skill. Emma is powerful too but she doesnt reach the same level even without the phoenix.

This is so utterly inaccurate. Even without the Phoenix Force, Jean is an Omega Level mutant. As a matter of fact, her activities as Phoenix and Dark Phoenix were originally a manifestation of Jean's powers without the psychic blocks Professor Xavier put upon her. With or without the Phoenix Force, Jean will destroy Emma.

You are correct. Jean is an Omega level mutant without the Phoenix force. The Phoenix and Dark Phoenix knew how to use Jean's power to the full extent but it was still limited by human limitations. It really just allows her power over life and death and to fly in space unaided. That's it. And as Emma said, "It was like I was completely defenseless" after a psychic battle with Jean and if I recall correctly, she wasn't linked with Phoenix at the time.

Personally, I prefer Emma over Jean. But Jean is the more powerful between these two, and just with the fact of the Phoenix Force, otherwise I think they'd be pretty evenly matched. Because most Telepath's in X-men are. They are the stronger characters.

As a matter of fact, the only reason the Phoenix noticed Jean was because of the unparalleled outburst of psionic energy exerted by Jean when her powers first manifested. If you read my post I said "I THINK" :) I know that Jean is VERY powerful, but that doesn't make Emma weak. She is also a powerful mutant. But with the Phoenix, Jean actually isn't that intressting really. But that's just IMO.
