I have owned my R8 since 1993 -- and although I got a R8B a few years ago, I recently sold it, preferring the audio and smoother tuning feel of the original R8. I also prefer the readout to the R8A/R8B. The optical encoder on the R8 provides a smoother "feel" when you're tuning....so although the ergonomics of the later radios has improved, the R8 still has a home here in my shack.
@dxace1 hi yes the drake is a great receiver but personally i have moved to sdr radios just because of the wide band recording on the mw band .. thanks for watching
very nice.i have also a r8 receiver and i love it.better as all the jrc icom and kenwood radios.and i know ,iam a swl for 40 years now.using a dx 10 antenne on 10 meters i hear things i never heard.good luck with yours
