Darn, it's not it. I thought this version may have been the one they used to play on the radio where it starts out with the LP version and then cuts into this version just before they sang "You got me groovin', just keep on movin'...." I used to have that version on 12" as well as the one with the 9:46/7:11 versions. The special version was about 9:35. As for people who keep bitching about today's music. Dad used to say they did not sing anything in this song except the chorus.
Love this jam! They don't make music like this anymore. So blessed I was a teenager when this song came out. Till this day 2012, I still listen to this. Not crummy music they play nowadays.
Hello, happy new year 2012.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My names Bill, live n Trenton, NJ... Tryn to contact Mr Raymond Earl. can you heip. whats his facebook if he has 1
I love this song but it is to dry! I need me some Larry drop in's. This is just not the way it was in the club guys. This song in particular is a framework to add stuff. This is the song that could put to use all 3 turntables.
So let's see some one pull out an old tape and post it. Someone out in NYC but have a bootleg Larry Levan mix tape! Post IT!!!!
You Can say what you want about disco but they still played real Instrument and in some cases had orchestra I wish they would get together and have a mew millinium rap cd burning how bout that!!!!!!
I wish there was a decent live performance of this tune from 1979; I would have been able to see this Disco act in their true element. Oh well, at least we've got this.
I always wondered how disco could have ever ended and then you hear all of the bad no-sincerity songs on YouTube it is a real education. You see why it would have been such a relief to see all the crap acts moved on in the early 80s.
Man, now this is truly some serious funk! My senior year of college and the party was jumpin when this jam came on....I can see the heads bobbin in the dark. :)
@efren236 i remember buying the 12" remix with an other disco classic on the b side called cryin they had a few club hits but nothing very commercial thank god cos they may have ended up like shalamar.
Ya know it !! Took me back so good I got up and startin dancin in my living room, only thing missing ,,the dancefloor and my old friends who appreciated this music as much as I did and still do......! I love we can come to youtube and listen to anything and go down memory lane. !! signed: blackgirl in a white body.
to efren236 i can remember this it was my disco days brilliant record loooove it instant classic funk i am glad you luv it too keep grooving love junysawrusx

This was all over the airways and dance floors of the NY/Jersey/Philly area in 79. Just one of the many gems released in that precious, short heyday. The fun we had then was on a scale simply incomprehensible to kids today. And it was music like this that drove it all. King & Varick Forever.
@MrSexxxy20 I remember when I was little this song was actually new, and on the radio. It was wierd though, I didn't hear it ONCE in thirty years(did I just say that?) Last summer I contacted a local radio show to ask the DJ what the name of the song was cuz I had no idea! The part that always stuck out in my mind was that girl saying "SAAAY WHAAAT..." Love that part lol

Raymond Earl (bass) Scotty Miller (drums) and Kim Miller (guitar). They later expanded to include: Dennis Richardson (keyboards) James Carmichael (lead vocals) Larry Davis (horns) Eric Huff (horns) Johnny Onderlinde (horns) George Bell and Charles Williams (percussion)
Yep ! That's correct ... they started as a trio (only on the 1976 album "Get Down With The Philly Jump" , their debut album) , but as soon as they made their second album,in 1978 ("Instant Funk") they became a 9 piece group, including trombonists, trumpet and sax players,as well as drummers, percussionists, keyboardist, guitarists and bassist ...However, the group kept on changing members during it's carrer ... They were far too much underrated, in my opinion; and not promoted
