is it really possible for hydro locking. cause im thinking about getting a civic si 09. and just by looking at this. deres actually something shielding the filter below. so how would da intake fully b covered in water?
a cold air intake is susceptible to hydrolock only when it is mostly or fully submerged in water. Even if its half submerged in water the other half of the filter that is not in water will keep sucking air. If you live in a place that floods a lot then get a short ram. If you get a cold air get a bypass valve or a hydro shield from injen.
well, they don't want to say it can, cuz they dont want it to happen to them, but yea, it can happen, and if ur afraid it will, just get a bypass false which is around 40$ i think, or, get a cheaper short ram intake which stays up next to the engine, negative side, it breaths the hot air next to the engine when the car is at a stop, when the car is rolling, it's not really an issue since air from outside comes in the engine bay
when it is rolling its still sucking hot air from the engine bay you idiot. Thats why people get cold air intakes instead of short rams and if your car is stopped hot or cold air doesnt make a difference cause its idling dumbass.
dude, im a technician in mechanical engineering,i know what im talking about, even if your engine is hot and heaten the air around, the motion of the car makes the air move, so the hot air is consistly replaced by colder air coming from the front grill and all the other entrences, of course the air coming from a cold air intake will be colder, and when a car is rolling slowly, not much air is coming through the engine bay to move the hot air, so there u can see a difference, we should test it
omg you are fucking stupid. The air coming in from your "front grill" is going into your radiator and AC you idiot. There is nothing to test its fucking common sense which you apparently don't have and there's already research and development from companies with DYNOS showing the difference. Just dont ever post on youtube again holy fuck you are so stupid.
dude, u really dont get it do u, dynos are on a standstill, the car isnt moving, so its a case of ''car that does not move'' whichs means all the hot air stays next to the engine, what is that u don't get
Thats why theres a humongous fucking fan BLOWING AT IT. When the car is moving the air its sucking in from a short ram is STILL inside the engine bay which is HOT AS FUCK. It doesnt matter the cars moving its still sucking in hot fucking air. You are so fucking stupid just please dont reply anymore.
shit! the coolent hose they gave me burst after letting the engine idle for 15 min! do u think that caused any permanent damage? fortunately i was in the car when it happened and turned the car off about 3-5 sec after it happened

Does that "velocity stack" lookin thing on the filter actualy work? i read on a website that its supposed to eliminate turbulance in the intake

@1PARADOXXX the theory behind it is good, but I don't know of any dyno proven data.

I noticed a difference at higher rpms def. Especialy around 70 the pull after 70 is alot better. And the sound it makes is just alot of fun!

My cold air only makes the loud trumpet noise at like 3-4000 rpms and then when its red lined. Is there any reason or wa to make it sound better?

what is hydrolock?
sctflasher379 2 years ago
@sctflasher379
When your intake sucks in a large amount of water and your engine stalls.
howulikedemrice 2 years ago
@howulikedemrice Air bypass valve prevents this.
JonKinchIsLegit 1 year ago
@JonKinchIsLegit
Yes I already knew that...
You can get an Injen Hydroshield that's water repellent or the aem bypass valve which acts as a short ram intake.
You don't need it unless you live in an area that floods or has extremely heavy rain.

you do know that if you roll through a deep pudle or when it rains your car will suck in water then your engine will die

Yup, hydrolocking.

there's no such thing as a "bypass false" you idiot. Its called a BYPASS VALVE. STOP TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING YOU HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE ABOUT.

Nice, how much HP gain? I just bought a K&N for my R18, with estimated 5.71 HP gain.

Common mis-conception....CAI making your car fast lol....HP Gains are minimum and you'd never be in the RPM for you to use your extra 5 HP LOL

yes I know dude. Its more for the sound. And In some cars the HP increase is enough to feel a difference, not all.
