I recommend seeing Ida Maria play at the Roxy in West Hollywood on the 30th. That’s what I would do on the West coast since she is not doing any shows near me. I hear she is superb live.
Also, you can thank Mr. Bernoulli for keeping all planes in the air as he does not get enough credit.
Delightful, as always, Lucy! You will be fine crossing the big pond ... air travel is very safe - air-PORTS are horrible, but the flights are fine, But, I will send happy / safe "plane wishes on the 26th! Best wishes for a wonderful, fun filled adventure, here in America! I look forward to seeing videos from here, I know you want to get a tan, but, PLEASE, go slow and use sunscreen! the desert sun can be brutal! Good luck with the rest of your exams, and have fun! <3
I know it's counter-intuitive, but statistically planes are safer than cars = you're less likely to have a plane crash than a car crash.
An English gal with a tan??? j/k ;)
I live in Southern California, so I'd recommend -- though they are rather "touristy" -- Disneyland, Universal Studios, some other TV/Movie Studio tours you can Google, maybe Hollywood Boulevard with the Stars on the sidewalk, and there's Griffith Park Observatory.
The U.S. will be a better place while you are here! ^_^
You're welcome! It occurred to me that, if you plan on using mass transit in San Francisco, you might want to try this web site (or looks for smartphone apps)
The Sierra Nevada is a mountain range; the major attractions that come to mind are Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park.
As for San Francisco, walking across the Golden Gate Bridge is a typical thing to do. Of course, there's always Golden Gate Park, Pier 39, Lombard Street, and a cable car ride. Golden Gate Park has several places within to visit. Also, the Apple Store?
I hope you have a fun and safe trip to the States!
Well when you are in California you should eat at In&Out Burger. Really good burger and fries. Not the same as McDonald's shit. And California Pizza Kitchen is really good too.
sooo i'm not from america originally; i'm from the northwest of england but now i live in texas. as someone who came to america only once before moving here (which, let me tell you was interesting) it is somewhat impossible to just tell you things to do. you will be marvelled at everything! it's so breathtaking and you should not be embarresed at being a tourist! also, everyone will ask you to say things in your 'cool british accent' so be ready for that!
LA and SF really have nothing to do with America. Relative to the heartland, the south, most of the west, and most all of the north and east -- those cities are alien worlds. What you'll see there or in NYC is generally despised by the entire nation -- a nation populated by hard working, down-to-earth, decent people who help their neighbors and welcome strangers. In those cities, if your car breaks down, your life is in danger. In America, when your car breaks down, people stop and help.
well for california (which is where i live) :D places to go: Six Flags (amusement park)/Hurrican Harbor(waterpark) Hollywood wax Mueseum Ripleys Believe It or Not Mueseum Disneyland (obviously) Universal Studios Hollywood (way better than disney in my opinion) Hooters (resturant...best fried ribs ever!!) these are all in or near L.A hope your plane stays aloft in the air lol &hope you have fun ovr here :) xoxoxemily

If you like Kubrick, check out Silent Running. It was directed by the guy who did the effects for 2001: A Space Odyssey. :)
