we are in this area because of the oil. there is no other reason. Its not out of the goodness of the American heart and to assume that we are would just be horridly horridly wrong. So long as America is dependent on oil we will not leave the Middle East. We need to find alternative fuel faster. now that the biggest obstical for getting government funding for that researching is gone (bush) hopefully we can get some serious consideration and make some god dammned progress.
What I find lacking in Adam's analyses are the same ones that are missing in nearly every other criticism or advocate of immediate withdrawal:
1. Why always blame the US? Why not even a single condemnation of al-Qaeda?
2. What was his alternative? Keep an irrational despot who has a history of murdering hundreds of thousands of his own people in power with every intent to acquire WMD?
3. The ramifications of withdrawing -- a power vacuum and devastation. And who would he blame...?
I love his book, but is David Bellavia suggesting that we can fight an ideology with military force? Because we surely can't. Bullets, bombs, and missiles can't kill ideology.
Adam, you are a useful idiot for the mooslem nutjobs. One year later and you look like a dolt. Jmelkis and the rest of you cowards should just live in mooslem land.
When Adam says, "The longer we stay in Iraq we're going to be fueling that," he hit the nail on the head. The other guy is just filled to the brim with all of those talking points that are rehearsed ad nauseum in the corporate/mainstream media. Also, Adam is basically right when he asserts that "You can't win an occupation." That is true by definition.
Just because the other guy supports the war it doesn't mean he's not a patriot or doesn't want the best for the people, it just means he has a different idea for a solution.
I think the war is a question of cost/benefit. We're spending all these resources that we DO NOT have in Iraq, and not that much has changed. Oppression is embeded in their culture, they're prisoners of their own society and real change can only come from themselves.
Exactly .. thats Adams point and really Jeffersons point when he said "Entangling Alliances With None" The point is you can NEVER win an occupation it has NEVER been done. The bottom line is cause and effect. As long as we're over there will have more events like 911 and ones like that shooting in Texas.. YES I believe that is another form of blowback. Definately!
Hey you the war supporter, How much are they paying you for this propaganda. You roar like a lion how about you go to war. Wouldn't be wonderful if the kings fight their own wars and not sent other people and others children for their own greed of power and wealth wars. Lets see you go to war or maybe your children or your family. Since you want the war so much.
@ObeeLektro> Your comment is a clear example of a blind & ignorant liberal follower who knows nothing of war, pride and what it takes to ensure our freedoms. The "war supporter" you mentioned is SSgt. David Bellavia of NY. He was a platoon leader in the U.S Army Task Force 2-2, 2nd Battalion 1st Infantry/ Ramrods. Winner of both Bronze and Silver Stars, and Nominated for a Medal of Honor. Your comment is itself a poor attempt at anti-war propaganda, and utterly pathetic in its delivery. Out.
Belluvia= NEOCON ( probaby paid real well to be one too lol! It's amazing how far the elitists will go! )
Anyone who agrees with Belluvia and Bush's unconstitutional war is also a neocon and a disgrace to the Founders! ( not to mention a sheep and fucking MORON! )
Oh and by the way Belluvia - Al Queda and Bin Laden were both created by Robert Gates and our own CIA. The CIA Financed, trained and gave weapons to Bin Laden long time ago. Just thought I'd let you know because it's obvious you do not know that. They never told you about Blowback apparently. Always happy to enlighten you!
True Americans know and respect the constitution and know that if our leaders had followed the advice of the founders this country would be so much better
Adam Kokesh is the man! We need guys like him in Congress.
All the F'n Neocons and Chickenhawks who say negative things about Adam need to fuck themselves! And while they're at it ask themselves " Would they send THEIR SON to this war?" No huh? Well then why send someone elses?:-))
The Iraq War which was started over UN Resolution ( because of that reason alone) was and still is UNCONSTITUTIONAL! No treaty can ever supercede the US Constitution! It is an absolute impossibility!
No WMD's NO Ties to 911 Bush cooked the books if you will.. This war just like Afganastan and allll the other wars in the past century were all for the MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX for profit. That is a fact. Google it and you'll see. Boeing all these corps benifit. It's disgusting!
Regardless of who is "right" or "wrong," this dude Adam was there in 2004, the war he fought in '04 is most certainly a different type of war being fought today in 2009! They both have opinions. I'd listen to the guy that just came back 4 weeks prior to the interview.
The Genocide in Iraq has been a disaster. Iraq had no WMD, no ties to Nine Eleven, no ties to Al Qaeda, Iraq was secular. Saddam was buried in a spider hole, not a threat. It wasn't for cheap oil, because the oil bubble climbed to 150 a barrel. I guess the 'war' was for Israel, but that backfired as well. It wasn't for freedom, because Bush/Cheney trashed the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. What a mess. IVATW are my heros.
My grand-father who was a World War II veteran said the war in Iraq was a mistake. I think a lot more veterans and patriots like Adam need to come out of the closet. Many of our leaders who send our loved ones off to die and to kill were draft dodgers when it was their turn to go to war. I think it's kind of ironic, isn't it.
