OK i just want to know if you can use this protein skimmer without a sump and sit it on a little cabinet beside the tank as i only have the deltec mce600 protein skimmer just now and i really want to update it.

No ,,, i don't recommend that , because it will produce thousands of micro bubbles/ sec , and this skimmer design to work in sump or beside the sump .
