  • I love this guys training i have taken down guys 2 times my size with this guys drills! I am 140 pounds . I wish i could train with him!

  • Why is the dude extending his hand as he checks the kick? I was trained to make a barrier from the foot to the hand which is on the back of my head by breaking the knee to the elbow. (Point toe down)

  • Great Vid! but the way that guy holds his hands annoys me....i would imagine by now its better!

  • ugh the music is annoying. but good drill haha

  • TAEKWONDO! :D

  • @elchico334 sucks!!!

  • @sammaggard hahahahaha!!!

  • the coach reminds me of myself when i studied the art for only 3 months... dont twist ur head like that..more hip rotation..and be aware of flailing your arms around when kicking.. and again i do not claim to be a master or anything,, just point out the errors so you can correct them

  • shitty instructor, shitty student, shitty drill

  • /watch?v=RQ7spniT31g

  • The instructor telegraphs his kicks a lot.

  • excellent technique no matter if u r starting, practices practices then the power is coming

  • You guys rock!! Txs 4 the advise!!

  • Americans can't wear thai shorts properly... go down 1-2 sizes, omg

  • @MrNystedt Americans or these guys.......

  • The teacher sucks at his technique, he says to his student to twirl on his toes while kicking but when you look at his foot when kicking, he doesn't turn shit

Also that pushing back thing while blocking the low kick, isn't ever gonna work in a Match

  • great tip, straight to the points no BS, cool

  • good vid but this is how it's done /watch?v=1qTeF7bqA2k (bring it on top pls)

  • in thai, when you kick with right foot you must use your left hand&elbow to guard your head from opponent's counter punch.

  • But everyone takes the guard down while kicking... u are totally vulnerable to counterpunches... i disagree on that point. For the rest, great technique :D

  • these kicks are wank who is teaching these people???

  • nice bitches

  • The student had it better than the other guy :P

  • да эти бараны сами не правильно бьют! Он еще бить не начал, уже видно удар!

  • @OnRodi Baran eto tot, kto tebe objasnil, chto takoe trening i chto est' boj. Imitacija maximal'no priblizhena k real'nomu boju, no vsio zhe eto ne boj, smyslu v obmane netu v imitacii, tak ili net? =)

  • @Rigidyroofless смысл не в обмане, а в четком быстром ударе, без лишних движений, и без замаха "из за жопы"

  • i want to star taking muay thai but im 19 and I've never done any martial arts am I too old to start?

  • @TheElfucko no, Bonjasky started at the age of 18 and he's been a K1 champion for 3 times so far.

  • @cristib12007

But did Bonjasky do any other martial arts before the age of 18? Maybe he did and that is why he got so great !!!!:-))

  • @wannaknowit Nope, he used to play soccer :D.

  • @cristib12007

OH soccer.....that indeed helped him build up his great stamina:-))Bonjasky seems to be a very decent guy:)

  • @TheElfucko 19-20 great age, it's NEVER too late to learn...But the younger you are - the easier you learn, that is true as far as I know. Go for it man!

  • isn't it very painful for both if someone blocks the kick with his shin ??

  • the fool in the begin has his arms fuckin low.. if he fights against me like that i will spank his ass within 5 seconds... and let the teacher just sneez with his head haha:D

  • watch my fighting videos

  • THIS IS SPARTA !

  • THIS IS SPARTA !

  • the instructor swings his arms and guard down when he kicks and his head doesnt focus on the guy when he kicks

  • on 0.40 min he never turn his toe or even hipps, but when he did it right on 1.01 the teacher came on and correct him.... wtf!

  • you should never check a kick that high, its easy for your opponent just to go for the next knee.

  • Good job guys...at least your in the ring doing it unlike most of the computer warriors on here giving us all there grand wisdom.

  • LOOOL at the guy shaking his head HAHA

  • NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE TIPS!

  • Actually, maybe shin pads and head gear have merit, bit like the way they've introduced gloves in modern Pancration.

  • Good points in audio, throw the video away.

  • man there is a BIG difference between this and muay thai training...in thailand.

  • @doctorsizzle

    Or the Netherlands.

  • @DrMabuse2006 have to agree with that too!

  • muay thai pwns noobs for breakfast XD

  • wtf noobs....the coach head?

    damnn...

  • I noticed that jerk his head does.. When in stance, eye contact is necessary, if the opponent sees you creating an abnormal movement with your head, they'll use it as a weakness. If you blink every time you throw a punch or jerk your head every time you kick, they'll be able to read you pretty easily.. Well that's my logic from learning "Sanda"

  • its like weight lifters turned muay thai; very rigid and inflexible, with zero grace and awful american style technique such as "eat the kick"... I fuckin' dare you to "eat" my leg kick, you'll be eating a right elbow after it.

  • some times eating kicks just sucks,

  • 0:20 the guy that kiks is he retarded? what the hell is he doing with his head? sneezing?

  • lmfao, he spins his head everytime he kicks.. dunno why lol... well hes the trainer he has to know what he does ;)

  • @Azad5xX hahahah he has to know what he does hahah yea right:P

  • lol

  • All the body is compromised in the rotation needed to do a MT kick. If he hit you i'm sure you would know why he turns his head.....

  • @Chocho5983 hahawhahhahahaahah damnnn nice man you make me laugh:D:DD

  • @Chocho5983 He's breathing out quickly, so if he was actually fighting someone, he wouldn't get the air knocked out of him from a gut shot, etc..

  • not nice kicks ...but the instructions are right!!

  • Eh more snap with the hip and stand on your toes while kicking.......not impressed here

  • All you people think you are amamzing but yu probobly suck

  • ephasm is perfectly good . and i dont know but...om...omg...the "teacher" the black " muay thai man" .. how teach you on videos..so...when he kick his head do a round..or ...like a spiral at 0:18-0:21.. :d

  • omg this guy with black shirt he has no idea about kickin, so how can he teach anyone? jesus

  • i find it funny how some people comment saying this and that oh hes not doing it right blah blah blah. um whos the expert him or you guys?? get in the ring with him and see how you take one ov his kicks

  • I fight professionally in Scotland. If he can make 66kg I'd fight him.

He's not an "expert" mate. Learn the difference between someone who is, and someone who put instructional videos on youtube.

  • ok hero

  • Lol i totally agree with you, none of these guy look to be at a fighter level. The instructors technique especially on his kicks are shocking lol. You can tell that with out looking at his standing leg, considering hes not a small guy theres just no power lol. I dont think the level of Muay Thai is very good in the U.S.A (i dont know tho) but i know the level is good in Scotland after watching a few Scotish shows. Im trained by Steve Wakeling :) hopeing to fight professionally soon!! x

  • Ah nice! What gyms that? I was down in Leeds at the beginning of the month corenering one of our fighters for an 8 man tournament run by Pegasus. I'm fighting in February - train at Sit Ayuthaya under stevie nisbet

  • Scorpions gym!!! :) Yea i watched that tourney who was you cornering?

  • Paul Grant. He beat Phil Burke in the first round then the coach stevie wouldn't let him continue cos he started bein sick and shit in the changin room. He wasn't really feelin well before the fight and was quite dizzy and stuff. I think he's matched with Pegasus' Chris Wray to fight on the same show as me in February now and if he wins that (which I'm confident of) my coach is talking about matching him with Oborotov for a European title, hopefully in June.

  • Yea Paul looks very technically sound, shame he was feeling sick he prob would have gone far in that tourney. Where's your show in Feb?

  • It'll be in hamilton in scotland. Just outside of glasgow. Yeah, paul is a beast. Lol broke my left arm when I blocked a head kick about 3 years ago when we were sparring. He's a monster lol.

  • thats why you dont block with your arm, numb nutz. ; )

  • xXfedoristhebestXx

Your just gay. Dont answear me back. Im not talking to you anymore. Poser

  • first kick at the leg, you hit him, as you trie to him again he knows and he will block, then is the time to kick him at the other leg and he will fall

  • aka feinting... its a great tactic!

  • estou fazendo muito loko as aulas de muay thay

  • buena tecnica

  • that instructers kicks are shocking.he isnt pivoting on his standing leg enuf..its like hes kickn up towards the elbow

  • Yeah, I thought the same thing.

  • Excellent. Yin-Yang. No matter the fighting style every strike, kick or technique has its strength and weakness. Respect to the instructor who teaches in this.

  • @MarkRocchio Ur absolutly right.

  • veery very good videos ! very helpful... congrats !

  • @narcio I'm glad you feel that way.

  • This dude cracks me up.

  • You see around the 0:30 mark that his left arm, the guard arm is on the wrong side of the head, it should be on the right side, as you life your elbow tocover the right side. Ive lived and trained in Thaialnd about 5 times now for 3 months a go. And am a certified Ajarn. Not that that That means anything really I suppose, anyone can claim it, so take it for what its worth. But he is fairly close to correct there.

  • lESKUF

Yes you drop your kicking arm and move the opposite accros to double duty as hear protection for both sides. his student seems to not use the guards right, but yes, thats the way you kick. And dont try to argue its tech, its already proven the most effective and powerful roundhouse of all arts.

  • it is never the martial art that sucks, it is the person attempting it that can suck

  • does the instructor actually teach his student to drop the guards while kicking???

  • No thats not a good ideal .Keep you gaurds up protect yourself at all times.

  • I'm sure being a muay thai champ and all, he probably knows what's he's doing better than an internet warrior like yourself. He can also probably type a coherent sentence.

  • It's possible that dropping the guard would encourage the opponent to attack regardless of reason. I've seen Miriko Cro cop do it, and when the opponent attacked, the opponent went straight into a knee or a kick in the stomach or neck.

  • ok that sounds reasonable. but doesnt he lose power in his kick when he twist the torso opposite the movement of the kick?

  • k these guys would kick all your asses so shut up ...they know way more then you...

  • wanna bet? lol

  • umm. yes. seeing as they have videos of themselves training in mauy thai and you dont?...this would never happen because you wouldnt fight them..your just on the internet.

  • lol

Are you one of their students?

  • are you the guy i was talking to?

  • Why not?

  • guys check out my video, i could do with some advice or tips, thanks.

  • I want to see more heads snaping left to right. You should always take your eyes of the target and keep alot of tension in your neck and shoulders. Oh, and spit when you do it, it looks more LA street.

  • what do you mean, "If he was kicking properly he would be rolling his shoulders enough that it keeps us away from that hook. The way that is being demonstrated here the kick would connect?" I do not understand what you are trying to tell us please clarify.

  • very very very bad kicks ...

  • Hahahahaha.

  • now thats a good drill. I will use it in my workouts. Thanks for posting.

  • TIGER UPPERCUT!

  • i pec 11..........u r correct

  • Puuh, Never seen such a bad trainer before....omg, delete this vid!!

  • I'm a boxer, definately not an expert on Muay Thai... But logic tells me his right hand should not be dropping as he kicks as it leaves him wide open for a hook.

  • i'm a muay thai guy although not an expert and throwing the hand back produces more power, the shoulder is rolled up to protect the chin. the head moves back out of range and then down to the side and if you throw a hook you can't block the kick if you miss.

  • You are correct. The question is about timing and distance. According to your skill level and the opponents. You have to fuck up really bad the timing/distance/situation to get hit by a hook while kicking. Though sometimes the opponent can be skillufl enough.

Consider this for a moment. I as a MT guy could say that logic dictates that the philly shell defensive style leaves you wide open because the other hand is not up. But you as a boxer probably know that properly executed it's not true.

  • You are definately right about the skill/timing/distance. I've boxed for 8 years but always wanted to learn Muay Thai, it's some badass stuff.

This trainer needs to focus on better form I guess. His ridiculous head twitch, and it doesn't seem like he's covering his chin with his shoulder as he kicks.... Really he's wide open for any counter. Pause it at 0:15

  • I'm super fucking bored so here is some more. You can actually see the hook "counter" happening in a very high level match here watch?v=cF9zkWUYNyk&feature=related at 4:00. The thais taditionally swing a bit both of their hands.

So it's not impossible but hard to do or someone has to suck a lot!

Man now I'm definitively a youtube warrior after commenting this much. Damn. KIAAA!

  • If you drop your hand you generate a lot more power but your wide open.

If you keep your hands up you dont generate as much but your protected.

Muay Thai is an offensive martial art, your always coming at the enemy, so it makes sense that their techniques are more offense based.

My only problem with Muay Thai is that a lot of them dont rotate there shoulders when throwing a roundhouse kick, but I guess thats more based off the practitioner and not the art.

  • I'm practising Cambodian Boxing for 3 years now which is pretty much the same as muay thai (and the other Fighting Arts around there like the one from Laos) our Trainer is original from Cambodia and fought there. He always tells us to keep the block up when kicking.

  • I personally agree with this idea. If trained properly, a kick can still generate great power with keeping up the guard. The key is proper training, balance, and speed. Now keep in mind this is my opinion based on how I train, but I feel it is a valid point to make. Your teacher seems like he knows his stuff, keep up the training friend! God bless...Peace

  • i am not a fighter XD

  • If he was kicking properly he would be rolling his shoulders enough that it keeps us away from that hook. They way that's being demonstrated here you would absolutely catch him with it.

  • this trainer should work on his own technique a bit more before teaching a student absolute shit. Everyone obviously noticed his stupid head twitch while kicking but look where he keeps his right hand while checking the kick. thatchin is wide open, even worse though is the fact his student is doing it too.

  • His are is at his opponents shoulder which stops the opponent from throwing an effective punch or you could block it up, and the other is close to the face to block a hook, just cause your hands rent in you face all day doesn't mean your not blocking

  • yeh .. i was thinking superman punch

  • this lessons will helps you if you're alredy trining muay thai but if you're not their is nothing that you can do just look ta your monitor is isn't sufficient that's wy you must train if you realy like this sport

  • kick block and kick back is not much smart as it looks like.. better use kick block and punch him back in his face.. much better :)

  • Errr this trainer is not as good as what he thinks he is!

  • What the FUCK is that instructor doing with his head EVERY time he kicks??? Trying to give himself whiplash so that his opponent will feel sorry for him when he knocks himself out?! AWESOME strategy...The Pity Defense!!!

  • yea man your right lol. good vid tho

  • he gonna get whiplash lol

  • Agreed what the heck is he doing?

I think he's thinking about how much macho he must put into his attack LOL.

  • @ayokay123 What are you talking about?

  • @ayokay123 lol looks like he's having an exorcism

  • @ayokay123 because the instructer is a homo

  • @angerfizzzt95 He's trying to look slick, which would result in his own ass being kicked. Lowers his hands when he kicks. A real fighter would put out his lights poste haste.

  • ... No.

  • TKD is only good with a trainer who's nuts and likes going for the head.

  • anyone know where there is a good place to sign up for classes in michigan?

  • Hey man, I love your videos. Great stuff. Gets me motivated for the next workout. Thanks again. Great work and appreciated.

  • i would not pay this guy to teach me . instructor has no balance and stance is offfffffff

  • exactly. the student is better. haha

  • he is not trying to deliver a strike, just a movement so the student get the rythm if you know what I mean.

  • mauy thai is the greatest martial art since jeet kun do i live eat drink sleep have sex with and cuddle with after with muay thai...its my life!!!!

  • correction: muay thai is A GREAT martial art.

It is not the greatest. It alone is worthless if you are taken to the ground, also it is not often taught with defense in mind. Few to no "dirty" fighting techniques.

  • Lol look what the dude does with his head when he kicks

  • Jan jan

Don' wanna see you when such a kick hits your head

    ...

  • this is crap... 1st the stance... and the way they kick.. hehehe

  • every one leaves comments that claim to be superior.......

    just watch the damn video.

  • I second that

  • I third that. E-boasting is easy. Muay Thai is not easy.

  • of course muy thai isnt easy exactly but u really want a challenge look at the more traditional muy thai martial arts instead of muy thai boxing like muy thai boran or muy thai chiaya and the others i can think of right now

  • I like the video! About people who leave comments that claim to be superior, see, they're just giving their opinion on the video, and they should have a right to do that, shouldn't they? We're all here to learn more about Muay Thai, and we can only do that when everyone exchanges their ideas and thoughts with each other.

P.S. Guys, if you know a thing or two about kickboxing, please give me (and others) some help on different aspects of it at KickboxersCommunityDotBlogspotDotCom. Thanks!

    Cheers!

  • eh... Of course they have all the right in the world to express their opinions. I'm just tired of dealing with douche bags in day to day life..

"Just cuz you can drive a car with your feet doesn't make it a good idea."

  • because eveyone here is so called expert im gonna say im a beginner and am watching these vids to help me learn not criticise the PROFESIONAL instructor

  • its funny to see that evryyone is a pro here and tries to say how you got to do it right and how bad and how good he is lol

  • Muay Thai is a great martial art!!

  • im new to this muay thai so give me sum slack iv noticed wen he blocks that kick how high his feet are y not go under his feet and kick his side of his knee to knock him down

  • He's blocking a kick to the liver with a low kick block. That's not really how you're supposed to block a kick like that. If you block a kick like that, your feet on the leg that blocks wouldn't rise above your knee.

Normally you would block a kick to the liver your arms or just move towards your opponent when he kicks. The guy that's training the students here isn't a really good fighter. At least not with a lot of ring experience. Otherwise you would never train your students like that.

  • thanks yea i just started taking muay thai about 3days ago so yea hopfully i get good in the future

  • Good luck with that.

It's a great sport. I've been doing it for 13 years now.

  • thanks

  • nice ive been doing muy boran and thai boxing for 4 years now how many wins/losses u got

  • Did you suck when you first started? I am worried that I will embarrass myself when I first start out because I won't get anything right.

  • I know How you feel man, Lol Im signing up for a Kickboxing/Muay Thai Class and Im worried about sucking hard, But ofcourse everyone was bad at one point right? It all takes time Nobody starts Perfect :)

  • dude i was bad dude the first year i was 2-10 then i said i won't ever lose agian train everyday taught myself pain in 3 years im 49-14 soon to be 50-14 my last fight may 17th then im not doing muy thai anymore because dude it suxxs getting knocked out like everything is in slo mo vision starts to get blurry u can hear ur heartbeat inside ur ear and u have a painful stabbing feeling in your head and the breath leaves and u fight to gain it back but u can't then u pass out. Ull get beta practice

  • That's why you have to be in good physical shape to do it. I am in VERY good shape, so i'm sure I can handle it.

  • Comment removed

  • nice block with a recovering kick! that was hard too!

  • awesome!!

  • What is the point in putting a hand on his chest

    and one hand down ?

  • The one hand down is to counter the violent rotation. It prevents the lost of balance from over-rotation. The gain maximum power, the hip must rotate full blast. If you don't put that other hand down, you will probably fall off and be opened to counters. The other hand must block the important parts. Just like when you throw a jab, the other hand that's up must block the important parts.

  • yeah thas some real Muay thai there man. Our sensei teaches us MMA tho and he teaches us to keep our hands up. But it just wut he does from experience. eh is professional Mixed martial artist so i guess it wont hurt to listen to him lol. but i get the idea behind the counter -weight of pulling th e hand down.

  • Counter balancing and winding up.

The higher he brings that leg to block, the more counter balancing he does. The winding up is all about power and defense. As he takes the kick and raises that hand, he is readying himself to throw "through" his opponent.
