The guy started to make a 50 foot wingspan model of this but the belt stripped right as it lifted off the ground and then the process of trying to find one that would work he went to college and hasnt finished the project.
What's not to love about such a wonderful airplane. I'm heading out to my garage to see if I have enough space to build one. The music goes great with the video.
ok, the funny thing is that the wingspan on thar thing is like twice that of the worlds smallest airplane! and probably the same wingspan as ultralight aircraft! bravo!
@wmcneal42 wow simply amazing i want to build one i know all the stufff how to build it but my parents dent me of getting that hopefully i ll get it for christmas
@RcWorld7 He used Polyquest Lipo batteries totaling 6S 10400Mah, Phoenix 80 ESC, and a Hacker C50 14XL with a Hacker planetary 6.7:1 gearbox. Gotta remember this was 5 years ago. Large outrunners were not readily available then. The flight took place at 5:30pm, Badger Prairie St. Park, Madison Wisconsin, April 2 2005.
oh i though this was called pink floyd because at tthere shows they's fly "planes" into the walls but they were like foam models with small explosives in them
Another point to this video is that flying something like that at a local flying field and fellow club members would respect you with all their hearts and souls; flying an r/c airplane is like wearing clothing: you wouldn't want to wear the same shirt as another guy, would you?...I WOULDN'T!!!
My friends, especially those who aren't into nor have any knowledge in r/c airplanes, is that it is unlimited in flying radio controlled airplanes; they can be very expensive, but, you can also fly those things dirt cheap!!!...
It may have been an unofficial record back in 2005 when this video was made, but I am pretty sure by now there have been others. I am sure it still remains the largest model airplane ever constructed in a college dorm room though!
whats real amazing is that this guy who made it is a regular joe.
probably has alot of money. i saw the gear for this thing, 3 big Axi motors to one gear and a giant prop. he must have spent a couple thousand in the foam plus electronics
actually using pink foam is fairly cheap compared to traditional rc plane materials (balsa and spruce) Its the servos and batteries that would have cost the most.
Now I am inspired !.

The music in this video is from the movie Apollo 13. I think by John Williams.

not all of it is how its built because of the pressure that is put on the wings when its in the air
