Jesse was also that type of a singer but also with a lil soulfullness lol. Jesse was kind of a cross between Howard and Phil in SINGING style. not exactly but it in nearly inmeasureable ways. as far as scrreaming, Phil's screaming is much more versataille and raw than howards. what it comes down to for me is just the fact that I like the sound of Phils and Jesse's voices better. that's it for me and that's why I understand that ppl are glad they chose howard, it's merely an opinion!!!! that's it

Jesse is hands down better at everything. Well Blood Has Been Shed is MUCH heavier than Killswitch, this is true, but the band's overall sound with Jesse was MUCH more aggressive than Killswitch's newer stuff. Compare Unbroken or Still Beats Your Name (which i think are Howard's heaviest songs) with Just Barely Breathing. or Irreversal, or Vide Infra, or In The Unblind, or To The Sons of Man (get the picture lol) from Jesse. But let's stop arguing, because I NEVER said that I don't like Howard. I think he's an AMAZING vocalist.

They are both different, Howard has a loud downpitched voice, Jesse is more the core type, near the punk limit. I love the alive or just breathing but Jesse's vocals would not be adequate for the new sound of KSE. Altough, both of them are great vocalist!

sorry but you guys gotta realize what microphones can do. i've heard each singer scream without a microphone in their faces and howards is actually very quiet. jesse belts his out very loudly. howards uses his hands to surround the mike so that his screams seem louder through a mike and they both use alot of compression which brings the volume of their screams to a similar volume.
it's all about dynamics and jesse's dynamic range is just much higher when he screams than howards. and don't come back and say that howards range is higher because he can hit higher notes, i said dynamic range. look it up in a dictionary
oh and recently I heard Jesse warming up at the new wave in new bedford with his new band the empire shall fall. I couldn't believe they were playing that place but you gotta start somewhere right

I don't think alive or just breathing had thin guitar sound. It was thick and heavy, almost too much but it's still a good sounding album. It definetly has a deeper guitar sound but tonally it isn't as good as EOH or ADD. AOJB is still the best tho (wonder why?)

Guitar tone on alive or just breathing is utter shit though..Joel of KsE agrees with me, they used some program or something I forget, but it took away the bass of the amps cabs and made it sound thin. I love the different tones, EOH is very very heavy and scooped, ADD was more mids and rich sounding, all great tones!

The tone worked for every song on the album, however, Adam D is just that good a producer that he makes a quality track, every track. Even after listening to the albums hundreds of times i still find the tones fascinating, nay, enchanting!

I love the heavy metal genre and many different extremely deathcore bands to slightly softer bands like KSE. KSE are my all time fave and I can understand why many people hate the direction their music is going and the fact that it sounds like the stuff from As Daylight Dies but they can't change completely, since it's their style and they want to keep the majority of it then they won't chnge as much as you want them to on their next album

And until I hear a studio/CD version of this song and the rest of the new album I'll leave my mind open, but if this song is supposed to be a good representation of the new album, it's going to blow. It sounds like As Daylight Dies 1.5. The corus sounds very similar to Let The Bridges Burn.
Again, I'll hold my judgements until the new album drops, but my expectations have been lowered by this video

IMO, ADD is the weakest. I still like it. But even to this date, I still listen to EOH on a fairly regular basis, wheareas i've basically stopped listening to ADD. It's good, but it's just not as memorable to me. The guitars have a flat sounding tone. As for the new song here, the 'clean' part is the EXACT rhythm pattern as My Curse, which makes me think the new record will be like ADD. Joel and Adam need to go back and write crunchy riffs a la Rose of Sharyn, World Ablaze & When Darkness Falls.

I can see how it sounds like My Curse, but it doesn't sound flat. They're in harmony. No flat or sharp notes here, or in ADD. Joel sometimes plays an octave lower than Adam, and they cover a full scale, it's kinda hard to say they have a flat tone when they do that. I would say the clean part does have the same note scale as My Curse, but it's strum pattern is different. Good ear, I didnt hear it at first, but I sound very familar. I would have to disagree with you though. Similar but different
Joel and Adam do make some wicked harmonies together, but what I meant by flat was the sound of the guitar. the notes just don't seem to ring-out like they do on End of Heartache. It's like the guitars weren't recorded as loudly, it sounds slightly muffled in a sense. Either way, I'd wish they would release a single or something so we can hear a good studio quality version of a new song so I can have a better opinion of the new material.
Yeah the new material will have to be released with studio quality for that examination. In my opinion, they're both pretty much the same in quality. Howard's vocals do shine more in ADD, perhaps that is why the guitars sound muffled? Still though I think we all can agree these guys are awesome.

no not at all! I just think that tihs album's songs sound too similar. I listen to it two times through and I put in ADD. one thing I do have to say though is that I never really skip a song on EoH. I always skip Eye of the storm when the tempo slows. Mediocre yes, when compared to each other. The sound is too similar on that album, nothing really distinct. ADD has more variation.
I think phils a much better and more creative singer. his screams are powerful like jesse's but they sound different and he has a great voice. I think less fans would've been alienated if they went with phil instead
Phil is from All That Remains, he tried out for KsE when Jesse left but Howard was chosen. He sings with KsE in some songs from End of HEartache and he admits that Howard is better in the 'World Ablaze' dvd. Check out his band, they're really good but make sure to check their older album called 'The Fall of Ideals' the newer one, 'Overcome', is not as good.

Well Blood Has Been Shed is MUCH heavier than Killswitch, this is true, but the band's overall sound with Jesse was MUCH more aggressive than Killswitch's newer stuff. Compare Unbroken or Still Beats Your Name (which i think are Howard's heaviest songs) with Just Barely Breathing. or Irreversal, or Vide Infra, or In The Unblind, or To The Sons of Man (get the picture lol) from Jesse. But let's stop arguing, because I NEVER said that I don't like Howard. I think he's an AMAZING vocalist.

sorry but you guys gotta realize what microphones can do. i've heard each singer scream without a microphone in their faces and howards is actually very quiet. jesse belts his out very loudly. howards uses his hands to surround the mike so that his screams seem louder through a mike and they both use alot of compression which brings the volume of their screams to a similar volume.

I don't think alive or just breathing had thin guitar sound. It was thick and heavy, almost too much but it's still a good sounding album. It definetly has a deeper guitar sound but tonally it isn't as good as EOH or ADD. AOJB is still the best tho (wonder why?)

Guitar tone on alive or just breathing is utter shit though..Joel of KsE agrees with me, they used some program or something I forget, but it took away the bass of the amps cabs and made it sound thin. I love the different tones, EOH is very very heavy and scooped, ADD was more mids and rich sounding, all great tones!

The tone worked for every song on the album, however, Adam D is just that good a producer that he makes a quality track, every track. Even after listening to the albums hundreds of times i still find the tones fascinating, nay, enchanting!

I love the heavy metal genre and many different extremely deathcore bands to slightly softer bands like KSE. KSE are my all time fave and I can understand why many people hate the direction their music is going and the fact that it sounds like the stuff from As Daylight Dies but they can't change completely, since it's their style and they want to keep the majority of it then they won't chnge as much as you want them to on their next album

Before all you emo-kids and hxc fans get butthurt: I've been a huge KsE fan for nearly a decade. And until I hear a studio/CD version of this song and the rest of the new album I'll leave my mind open, but if this song is supposed to be a good representation of the new album, it's going to blow. It sounds like As Daylight Dies 1.5. The corus sounds very similar to Let The Bridges Burn.
Again, I'll hold my judgements until the new album drops, but my expectations have been lowered by this video

I didn't hear the blast-beats, so there you go. That's why i'm holding final judgement until the actual record is released. I don't even care if there's blast-beats throughout though, because continuous blast-beats suck. But I also dont want them to add them here&there just to appease a heavier fanbase. IMO, ADD is the weakest. I still like it. But even to this date, I still listen to EOH on a fairly regular basis, wheareas i've basically stopped listening to ADD. It's good, but it's just not as memorable to me. The guitars have a flat sounding tone. As for the new song here, the 'clean' part is the EXACT rhythm pattern as My Curse, which makes me think the new record will be like ADD. Joel and Adam need to go back and write crunchy riffs a la Rose of Sharyn, World Ablaze & When Darkness Falls.

I can see how it sounds like My Curse, but it doesn't sound flat. They're in harmony. No flat or sharp notes here, or in ADD. Joel sometimes plays an octave lower than Adam, and they cover a full scale, it's kinda hard to say they have a flat tone when they do that. I would say the clean part does have the same note scale as My Curse, but it's strum pattern is different. Good ear, I didnt hear it at first, but I sound very familar. I would have to disagree with you though. Similar but different

Joel and Adam do make some wicked harmonies together, but what I meant by flat was the sound of the guitar. the notes just don't seem to ring-out like they do on End of Heartache. It's like the guitars weren't recorded as loudly, it sounds slightly muffled in a sense. Either way, I'd wish they would release a single or something so we can hear a good studio quality version of a new song so I can have a better opinion of the new material.

no not at all! I just think that tihs album's songs sound too similar. I listen to it two times through and I put in ADD. one thing I do have to say though is that I never really skip a song on EoH. I always skip Eye of the storm when the tempo slows. Mediocre yes, when compared to each other. The sound is too similar on that album, nothing really distinct. ADD has more variation.

Phil is from All That Remains, he tried out for KsE when Jesse left but Howard was chosen. He sings with KsE in some songs from End of HEartache and he admits that Howard is better in the 'World Ablaze' dvd. Check out his band, they're really good but make sure to check their older album called 'The Fall of Ideals' the newer one, 'Overcome', is not as good.
