It's hard to imagine that just 10 years previous to this success, Villa were in the (old) Div. 3, entertaining sides such as Port Vale, Halifax and the like, and could only of dreamt of an occasion such as this, when they were proudly sitting on top of the football world. Just goes to show how quickly fortunes can change in football!

A goal is great not just because of how it was scored, but also because of its meaning to the supporters of the team who scored it. That's why it's obviously the greatest goal ever to a Villa fan, which I'm not, but I do respect it. To me, the greatest goal ever scored would be a different one, but that's what football is about, isn't it?

Its the most important goal in Villa's history on their greatest night ever. How could it not be the greatest goal ever to a Villa fan? It may not have been a 30 yard screamer but who cares. Good move building up to it and a more difficult finish than it looked seeing as it hit a bobble just as it reached Withe.
