thats why she sings better in the studio sometimes.....not that she can't sing anymore but that her strength is by herself.....mariah is more of a musicians...and musicians don't all need to perform in the forefront some rather produce and write music. but the girl can sound really great live at her potential.

Yup this albums is all about the vocals and the acrobatic stuff. Its funny cuzz I use this albums to vocalize sometimes. I think that once people started noticing just how amazing her voice is they geared the albums more towards to a show of her skill more than anything else.

The "Emotions" album is incredibly underrated, and by far one of her best albums. It also features some of the most spectacular vocals ever laid down.

Agree 100%. Even Mariah fans underrate it. The vocals are superior to any Mariah album except maybe her debut, which is just as good in my opinion.

No, I find her debut a bit overrated. I far perfer the vocals on Emotions, Merry Christmas (her peak), Daydream, and Butterfly (best overall use of her range).

wasn't overrated cuz the world had never heard her voice b4...it was new....love vanishing,vision of love, alone in love, you need me.... it was 1990 very relevant at the time.

Didn't say it was overrated then. It's overrated now. Even in hindsight, with subsequent albums featuring stronger music, and better use of her range, some people still consider the debut her best album. I think it's far from being such. I like the debut, a lot, but it's quite overrated by fans.

The emotions album is phenomenal!! I especially love her amazing vocal range in the song "emotions" - W-O-W!!!! Can't imagine anyone else singing that song like mariah!! Out of this world! I love "can't let go" sooo much!! it's an amazing song.
